I love reading all the daily positives though, so keep those in mind even if it just helps a little. :heartsmil

Hi all
Thunder has been rumbling since 6pm and my head is so sore. I wish it would either come to a storm or go away. I managed an SFD today - I got up early and made my lunch so that I wouldn't be tempted to stop at shops.
SFD - 3/12
Groceries - £35.16/£116
Odd - £14.47/£60
Petrol - £23.79/£125
Ebay/Sales - 15/20
Exercise - 1/160 -
Thanks for the good wishes. Had a few hours sleep and feeling much calmer - though ravenously hungry again. Good that there is an explanation, just need to adjust to the situation and think about how to go forward. Not sure I can take to real ale drinking at this stage of my life (a moderate daily amount can help with the pain) - not sure about the beard implications.
Will unwind for a bit then have an early night. It doesn't fit my self-image. Whilst never having been a marathon running, cycling gym bunny (did enjoy the gym, but better when it was quite small, find the new sports hall size one a bit intimidating) I have always walked everywhere, carried everything in my rucksack (the proper 65kg one not this baby one) and am used to being fairly self-sufficient.
When the house is sold and I have a little more money maybe I can go back to Aqua-aerobics (loved it but could only afford to go for a few weeks). Can also use it to scale down mum's ideas of what we need in a house (persuade her to start de-junking instead of having somewhere big enough to keep all her stuff). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Evening all,
I'm a real grump today. I lost a SFD and spent on clothes, pet accessories and food. I also ate lots if sweet food after dinner so ruined my diet, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I did however exercise for an hour at the gym

mothernerd, I've just spotted your decluttering number - wowzer! :T
stewby, another non-social butterfly here. I love my own company and we rarely go out! Cheap to keep!
Oh loveadove, how pesky to find errors now! Still keeping fingers crossed for you (does make press ups a tad awkward, though...!)
dolly - did the temper tantrum work? Did you roll on the floor screaming and howling? Did the kids just walk away and leave you to it? And was tea edible???
Hugs all round to all who need one or more.
Today I am grateful for going swimming with dd and the water was lovely and warm, for dd's pride at improving her swimming, for poster paints, for cold flannels, for lovely people who give things away for free.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Evening all,
Sending positive vibes your way mothernerd.
MagicCat I'm so pleased you have booked a blood donar appointment! I've dug out my donar card and will go either tomorrow or Thu. The centre is a 20 min walk from my work so I'll be keeping an eye on the weather forecast as I'd prefer not to arrive soaking wet. Hoping to take 1 or 2 colleagues with me.
Broke a SFD today for a bottle of juice - extremely annoyed with myself. I'm in meetings all day tomorrow so very little opportunity to spend. I'm fine once I'm home from work, it's during the day I find it hardest to keep my cash in my purse. I did however manage to get two items listed on eBay.

Hellooooooo....again! I've missed the end of last month, and the start of this but just wanted to pop in and tell you how it was going. My target lurking and joining in through the challenges since about this time last year was to clear the evil credit card by my August payday, mid month. At the start of the challenges it was several thousand. It stands at £700 today, but there is £250 coming to it in payment already earnt (takes a few days to process it) and the bookings we have over the next 10 days will bring it down to an elusive £96 outstanding, by my calculations. I have an expenses claim to put in tomorrow, but I think I will still be about £45 adrift, which will come out of my August paypacket if needs be. On the brink of the release from this formal debt I can't begin to tell you how much difference these challenges and you people have made.
Along the way, I've made big inroads into decluttering my house (though there is still some to go, mothernerd I'm every day inspired by you!), my life (waved goodbye to a one of those menfolk who were not good for me), been inspired to try out for and so nearly get a job earning about £30k more than my current one!!, got back on my bike and cycle regularly to work now, laughed (a lot) with you at all the things that happen to you, that happen to me too, and your daily updates have given me insights into how other people live and feel about stuff, and thats genuinely made me a nicer person for those I encounter in the real world.
Financially, as well as thrashing the debt I got some much needed but expensive maintenance work done on the gas system and the roof, had some quality but cheap holidays with DD and other special people, bought some new clothes for my work wardrobe, invested in myself (hair, nails) once or twice, and donated more regularly to charity than I have before. Oh, and I went to the dentist and kept on top of eye appts (both costly things!), paid for a years car tax instead of the 6 months I've lived by for so long, got my house insured (it wasn't - big, big gulp - and turned out to cost me nearly a grand!), and upgraded my driving licence (which I'd been putting off, but turned out to be free!).
My next step is clearly to tackle the informal debt to my folk, and I hope to be paying this back at around £500/month from Sept. The cunning amongst you will have spotted the August paypacket is only being stung for the balance of the CC debt (something under £96). Unfortunately the car is in for MOT on Thursday and is making bad banging noises, and I can both see and hear the rain coming through the walls where the render has cracked, so I think its going to be quite hard work just treading water until Sept.
You asked in the opening post about what we'd give up to get here Kat. I chose to work our way out of it by renting out a bedroom in our house to short term guests. Unfortunately, we dont have a spare bedroom, so this meant me moving out of my room on a very regular basis, and sleeping either in DDs bed, on her floor, or on the sofa. To speed it up we also rent the whole house out sometimes, usually when we are away but sometimes at less convenient times. Then we either stay with relatives or friends, and on one really low, low point I've stayed at work in a room a colleague was eligible to have on site, and he didn't want to use so I did. Basically I've packed my bags, a lot. I am sat in DD's bed typing this as we speak!
As well as give things up though, this choice has bought a lot of people into our lives, and we have learnt a lot from them and made some truly amazing friends. So if I regret anything, its just the intensity of it - the challenges and camaraderie on here has really helped me cope with that though! I'm looking forward to being debt free completely and feeling like I can really choose when to have people to stay.
The nomadic living has made it hard to stay in touch with the challenges during the last couple of months - its a bit rude of your staying at a mates to just spend all your time online, and many nights there was no access to wifi at all. Hence my appearing, showing willing and disappearing again!
This month I'm disappearing in a different way - back into hospital next week for a few days, then a recup period at home. In my own bed! Possibly lurking here a bit once I'm home, but certainly not pushing myself to make money, just trying to minimize the spending of it. Unfortunately I had a lot of experience this year at minimising the cost of short stays. I think I'm as ready as I can be this time round! So, I will be cheering you on and will def pop back around the 15th with my final total if you like...and I'll be lurking until then!!
Good luck everyone with this final push! And thanks again for all the daily inspiration :T:T:T:T:T:T0 -
Good Morning Good People...
Animal Cruelty Alert ; I woke up last night to weird noise outside my window. I therefore closed the window not realizing that the moggy had gone out for a midnight stroll. I woke at 0500 this morning to monsoon rain and panicked.
Poor soaking wet miserably puddy-tat was sat at the back step mewing her head off. I felt AWFUL. Scrub down with a tea-towel and a fistful of dreamies and she was looking to go out again so it couldn't have been that traumatic!:o:o
Crazy_Lady - what an epic post! I am in awe of your get-up-and-go! What an inspirational post! You must be so proud of yourself!!! This is what it's all about - learning lessons by knuckling down and getting right to the nitty gritty... It also shows how much a group like this can help each other even if we aren't "real" so to speak!!!
I want more posts like this!
MotherNerd - what an epic battle you have going on. So glad people were nice to you! And massive hugs to you though too...!! And your decluttering is putting me to shame so I am going to get onto that this week!! And you don't need to apologise for buying chocolate...:)
Loveadove they might just think you are American and used spellings like they do - then you just need to wow them in the interview that I have no doubt you will get!!
I just broke the SFD for 3 hash browns from my work canteen . Someone kick me now!:o:o
The work fridge and microwave arrived (finally) - be wary of Arrow XL Delivery - people are excited and I have been thanked for my perseverance. I will never volunteer for something like this again though - but the fridge is massive and the microwave is 1000w so if anyone starts complaining they might get a smack....
Meeting a friend for food after work - he is buying just in case you are wondering - and so the bike was left at home and I had to spend £1.90 on the bus fair - loathed to do it and felt a bit odd without my early morning screech down my hill - but I shall be back on it tomorrow...
Withdrew my food money for the month and will be creating my weird little envelopes today... treats!

What a lovely post crazy_lady - a big well done on getting your cc debt sorted.
applemuncher - the tantrum helped a bit, the tea was saved by DH who came home in time to stop pasta boiling dry. At the height of it I was banging my fist repeatedly and very hard into my laptop keyboard:eek:, the worst of it is I sent a very stroppy email to someone in the heat of the moment.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler
