The system was trialled first of all in the Norwich area last year (curious no queries then) followed by Wales late last year, rolled out Nationwide middle of January.

I've no idea, whether it'll be still around this time next year, I suspect it will be - with maybe a few minor adjustments. I start looking for what car I'd like.

I live in the trial area, and the both months discounts were automatically added together when you bought fuel, we also got 2p for every £40 spend. Tesco changed it when it went nationwide :(
Loving knitting for the Wooligans! :j my totals:

I am smart enough to know that You simply can NOT penalise customers for spending money (they can stuff the 2p discount where the sun dont shine)

Unfortunately if you are struggling to read my post coherently you have no chance of understanding the actual point of this system penalising the customer

I can not explain any easier, not even for a child

but here is my last attempt

If i bought allllllllllllll my shopping from Asda in June

I would NOT have a 2p discount with Tesco

If I did not have a 2p discount with Tesco - I would have been able to claim my 17p discount at my last gas up

If you do not get it I simply can not help it

I am not interested in any more 'small talk'

    You are now on ignore
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

    Hi,

will it come with a full tank of fuel?

I will buy your fuel for as long as you live if this system is still penalising customers this time next year

With a profit fall enough to lead to the old ceo being binned and a new one now in place I suspect there will be a lot of changes to plenty of their loyalty schemes.

This fuel scheme is better than the old printed ticket method which lead to chaos on the forecourt as almost nobody was using the far quicker pay-at-pump option.
Yes, the drop in sales coincided with their devaluing of clubcard points.

I hadn't realised that the fuel money off credits were staged to be used in a particular order. However, we've two Tescos in town and the one which has a filling station is the further away, so I don't always use mine anyway.

The trouble is with Tesco is that to get one of these fuel discounts you have to spend a lot of money on goods which are 25-50% cheaper in stores such as Aldi and Lidl so you don't really gain but lose. Plus their fuel is always 4 p a litre more than it is at Asda anyway (where I am at least). I think Tesco is going down....

Just an extra though. Your fuel save is written at the bottom of your receipts (which in our tesco is being highlighted to customers so they know how much your next discount will be) so you will be able to check what you can use.

My personal thoughts on this is its one of the better ideas they have had. Its all done through clubcard so it means that it totals up your spending whenever you use it. Even if its only a packet of crisps still use your clubcard because while you dont get a point it all goes towards your discount. I myself never spend £50 in one go so under the old system i never got money off but now i get a small discount.

Must admit it has caused a lot more people screaming at me. The favourites from this week are the woman who left her card in the car and after me telling her to go get it or she couldnt use her fuel save refused. Then after she had paid came back in asking to be refunded. Again we have no over ride and she was told a few times to get it before she paid so she shouted at me calling me all sorts of lovely names. Next favourite is the man who took in his receipt but no clubcard. Again been called lovely names.

Also to the people who tell me they hate tesco and are going to asda. My husband works there so i get a discount there too! Its funny to see their reaction to that one. :D
Shoddy customer service like this and stupid scheme rules are other reasons why people are deserting Tesco in droves

A couple of quid is a couple of quid, and after all this is a money saving site!

According to petrolprices.com, in my area, Asda is 0.2p (not 5p) per litre cheaper than Tesco so it wouldn't be money saving to me to fill up at Asda as the nearest one to me is 15 miles away. When the nearest Tesco is 100 yards from my work, and I use them for my shopping, why would I refuse money off the petrol?

I get the impression there is some underlying issue that you have with Tesco!

And just before it's said, no I don't work for them!

I didn't say ASDA was 5p per litre cheaper in your area for two reasons-one, I don't know your area and, two, my post wasn't specific to you but to members in general.

What I did say was ASDA fuel is always cheaper than Tesco anyway, although I should have put almost always and is 5p cheaper for me.

Also, I never understand this "I live by Tesco so I fuel up there" mantra.

Don't you ever pass other fuel stations, like ever?

I live rural and my nearest, and only, fuel station is an Esso 2 miles away, currently 138.9p for diesel.

Yet I get fuel at ASDA, mostly, as they are currently 129.7p per litre and I will almost certainly pass one wherever I may be going.

Why would I want to pay 9p per litre more just cos I live by that station??

Sorry but Asda is far inferior to any of the other supermarkets. It's a thoroughly miserable experience shopping there and inevitably you end up going to Tesco/Waitrose/Sainsburys on the way home to buy everything Asda didn't have!

I can honestly say that I have never shared the experience you have had because Asda is seemingly poorly stocked, how odd.

I used to like Sainsburys but they have gone downhill these last few years, I don't earn enough to shop regularly at Waitrose and Tesco is just utterly depressing.

Maybe different areas have something to do with it but Asda is by far the leading supermarket by some distance in my locality.

It's not penalising anyone, why don't you just read the T&Cs
Savings from each month will remain separate, and cannot be used together. Savings must be used in the chronological order of their collection. For example, if you carry over a 4 pence saving from month 1 into month 2, and have collected 6pence in month 2, you must redeem the 4p from month 1 first in a fuel transaction, before then being able to redeem the 6pence earned in month 2 in a subsequent fuel transaction.

You got the 2p discount first so you have to use it first. Why are you the only person in the world who can't understand that?
