You can't redeem a 17p discountClubcard savings will load in 1p increments for every £25 spent, however savings can only be redeemed in 2p increments and will therefore only apply after each £50 spend. For example, if you have spent £75 in one shop and your store receipt shows that you have earned 3p of Fuel Savings, at that time you would only be able to use 2p Fuel Savings at the pump. The extra 1p will stay loaded on your Clubcard and can be used once your Fuel Savings have been built up to 2p. If, however, you do not reach the £50 threshold in that calendar month you will lose the 1p at the end of that calendar month.Apparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0

I may be wrong but reading the posts on here, I think the OP has been drinking. OP if you haven't, I apologise but you write your posts like you have.0

So I am actually being penalised because I spent some money with Tesco during April and instead of being rewarded I am being penalised with a 2p discount
You haven't been penalized, you have been given a 2p discount then a 17p discount and been asked to use them in the order you were given them.0 -
I work for tesco pfs so thought i would try and explain one of the points the op has made. The person may not have know if your fuel save would accumulate because until a couple of weeks ago we had only the amount available appear on our till and no dates that they expired. If we do not know what date they have to be used by we cannot tell you if they will build up.
Staff have no override and the tills are set up to give you the oldest amount first. As far as staff have been told where i work head office have no way of clearing it either. We have also been told that if a customer forgets to scan their clubcard while shopping they have no way of adding your fuel save on at a later date.
Im afraid my advice would have been to either fill a fuel can and use the 2p on that or use the 2p rather than loose it altogether and save the 16p (come off in multiples of two) for your next visit which would have given you a month to run your fuel down to take full advantage of it.
Also this is still only a trial which is due to end in september (this may have changed and not been fed back to us yet) and they are continuing to try and follow customers suggestions for improvement.
If you need further help with understanding terms and conditions they will be on their website or ask the staff in the pfs. Hope this helped a little :-)0 -
I've got better advice tesco worker eminemfan001.
Just don't shop at Tesco with their gimmicky pennies off a litre.
Most people would probably save a couple of quid at most with regard to how long the promotion lasts and how many miles they drive.
It's just a headache and not worth the hassle-just fuel up at ASDA which is always cheaper anyway-5p per litre in my area!
I hate everything to do with Tesco and they are not a patch on what they were about 10 year ago.0 -

A couple of quid is a couple of quid, and after all this is a money saving site!
According to petrolprices.com, in my area, Asda is 0.2p (not 5p) per litre cheaper than Tesco so it wouldn't be money saving to me to fill up at Asda as the nearest one to me is 15 miles away. When the nearest Tesco is 100 yards from my work, and I use them for my shopping, why would I refuse money off the petrol?
I get the impression there is some underlying issue that you have with Tesco!
And just before it's said, no I don't work for them!0 -

!I appreciate your inside explanation for the problems with "the system" and whilst this goes a long way towards teaching others what the problems are it does not excuse Tesco from offering the discount promised and penalising me (and others) for earning a discount they dont want - im sure they will "fix it" so customers can deleted unwanted discounts in future but right now Tesco Customer Services will have to deal with my situation the long way - and maybe few 1000 others which may in turn get them to fix it faster
ThanksWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -
They won't fix it because itisn't broken. It is operating precisely as the T&C explain it will. Had you desperately needed to get the bigger discount you could have first used the 2p on a few litres then dropped in again for a full tank. As you say you use the place regularly and presumably fill up at least once a month it would have made more sense to first use the 2p then use the 16p on your next visit.
Certainly on the pay-at-pump it is all automatic. I imagine the checkout operator has no way to override it either.0
