The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has suspended all flights into Israel's Ben Gurion Airport.
At 12:15pm EST, the FAA says it told US airlines they were prohibited from flying into Tel Aviv for a period of 24 hours.
US airlines Delta, United and US Airways confirmed suspension of all service.
Delta said it was doing so "to ensure the safety and security of our customers and employees".
The move comes amid heightened scrutiny over flights into or above conflict zones.
Delta said a flight from New York City to Tel Aviv was diverted to Paris on Tuesday after Israeli police confirmed that a rocket landed near the airport.

It's obviously worth keeping up to date with all other airlines if you plan to fly to/from Ben Gurion soon.

What concerns me is what is there to stop some terrorist organisation getting hold of one of these rocket launchers and bringing down any plane flying anywhere?0

Lufthansa - which includes Swiss, Germanwings and Austrian Airlines - said it had decided to suspend flights to Israel for two days.
KLM and Air France also said they had suspended flights scheduled to depart on Tuesday.
However, Air France said a flight scheduled for Wednesday is still scheduled to depart.
British Airways said in response to questions on Twitter: 'We are closely monitoring the situation. Our flights are currently operating as scheduled."There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...0 -
The rockets fired by Hamas are inaccurate ground-ground weapons. The missile that brought down the Malaysian jet is far more sophisticated and not the sort of weapon that would be 'got hold of' by terrorists without help from major state.POPPYOSCAR wrote: »What concerns me is what is there to stop some terrorist organisation getting hold of one of these rocket launchers and bringing down any plane flying anywhere?loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -

I suppose after the tragic events in Ukraine that the airlines, their insurers and governments are very focused on flying over war zonesDo you know the facts? It sounds like you know more than most
To be fair, common census from both sides of the argument suggests that MH17 was indeed shot down. And to shoot down an airliner from cruising altitude does take more than the usual SAM systems that terrorist groups can lay their hands on.
It's also widely acknowledged that the Ukranian Seperatists do have access to such systems (not passing comment on where they got them from). And obviously the Ukranian and Russian governments also posses such systems.0 -
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) said it "strongly recommends" that airlines should avoid operating to and from Tel Aviv.
Even before the announcement, Lufthansa - which includes Swiss, Germanwings and Austrian Airlines - said it had decided to suspend flights to Israel for two days.
KLM and Air France also said they had suspended flights ahead of the EASA's advisory.
EasyJet, Air Canada, and Alitalia also said they had cancelled flights.
British Airways said in response to questions on Twitter: "We are closely monitoring the situation. Our flights are currently operating as scheduled."

More than some maybe but nothing that hasn't been published by news organisations; what I have read and heard makes me think that there is a high probability that MH17 was shot down by a missile although I admit that I do not know for sure.Do you know the facts? I do know that you can't shoot down an airliner at 33000 ft without a sophisticated guided missile. The rockets fired by Hamas are not sophisticated, not guided and not ground-air.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -

It's interesting that planes that have missile protection, mostly military (some civilian such as AF One) have protection systems that work from attack from below, such as flares and chaff. A new breed of ground attack missiles fly dumb to very high altitude before turning on their search functions in free-fall to attack the plane from above, where as most on board defence systems are looking for a strike from below. The rules are always changing and terrorist groups will always be searching out the latest kit.0
