How would the UK fare without Scotland?

It's like getting a divorce, but insisting that your spouse is still obliged to continue living in the same house with you.
LOL, that analogy may indeed hold true in some parts of Britain.:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.

He goes with a proposal of what's best for Scotland and see if this is acceptable during negotiations.
I'd expect some give and take on a number of issues.neverdespairgirl wrote: »He couldn't have inferred anything. He might have implied it.
Ok, ok. I inferred. He implied
Let's not go back to the dark days in these forums.neverdespairgirl wrote: »However, I don't think anyone necessarily says it is categorically ruled out.
It's important to be clear this will be available for negotiation.neverdespairgirl wrote: »I'd have absolutely no problem with Scotland using the pound. But I wouldn't expect decisions to be made about the currency taking Scotland into account any more than any other important neighbour and trading partner. Nor would it be reasonable to expect the UK to guarantee Scotland's borrowing or banks.
I'd expect that too.
A good part of negotiating is to start of higher than your goal and concede back to the level you want to be at.neverdespairgirl wrote: »What's the point of independence if you still want Mummy to hold your hand if the big boys are being mean to you?
No need. No need.:wall:

It seems that Salmond has some squirming in mind:
Scottish independence referendum: Yes campaign admits it needs to change tactics to winUnion, not Disunion

1 Have you actually ever done any negotiating? A much more valuable tactic is to make sure you don't make any demands which are so easily shown up as untenable; it can be difficult to be a credible negotiator after that.
2 The SNP's statement on that is not actually for negotiation purposes, it is for persuading the Scottish people (*) that the SNP has some solid economic strategies behind their daydreams. They continually show their deficiencies.
(*) unless of course one is cynical enough to actually believe they don't care if they put false statements out there regardless of who they con. .... come to think of it ....Union, not Disunion

Anyone here know anything about currency values and how that is affected by confidence?
I wonder how much the "Pound" bank printed in Scotland will be worth the day after a "Yes" vote.
I suspect very little and wonder how long before it's zilch. 2 weeks? 2 months? Salmond Day??
If I had any of those things I would be dumping them well before the referendum date.Union, not Disunion

How do you work that out? Let me guess. The great mighty [STRIKE]England[/STRIKE] rotUK will cast its magic wand and we will all be doomed to a life of misery.
Scotland is capable of being a successful independent Country despite what some bitter folk would have you believe.
I don't understand the bitterness. Why not work hand in hand with Scotland to the better of Scotland and the UK.
According to most on here Scotland has been a drain on England and you should be happy to let us go.0 -

On the third para, no-one is bitter, yet.
On the last para, that's not how I feel.
Oh by the way .... "rotUK" !!! a bit of anti-English/British SNPism poking through methinks.Union, not Disunion
