Who thinks Darling will come out on top tonight?

Not me, Salmond is going to do a Farage and wipe the floor.

This should be a turning point where we see YES rolling to victory.

I'm looking forward to it, hope it is well managed and that Bernard Ponsonby makes them answer the questions. Hope it isn't too predictable - I fear I can second guess half of the soundbites already.

Everyone expects Salmond to wipe the floor with Darling so I expect lots of 'Darling handles himself better than expected' headlines.

I don't know how much impact it'll have though - people I know who have moved from don't know to yes seem to just suddenly think 'no what, I'm voting yes' with no particular trigger.

Has anyone seen the picture doing the rounds of Darling and Salmond wrestling? Aagh, my eyes.

And it is this emotional response I've been on about all this time, that bean counter arguments will not be foremost in wavering voters minds.

This is why I was on about a late in the day Churchillian effect for which I was roundly scoffed at a while back.

It's quite likely it can be cheaper to deliver from Scottish towns / cities than from London.

Even Westminster is looking overseas to reduce the burden of the public sector. Large organisations can afford to invest in the technology that results in a lower head count.

So even Westminster is admitting they are suffering from diseconomies of scale ;)

No it won't be, it's already assumed Salmond will come out well on Top.
    Who is expected to win?
Alex Salmond. Ladbrokes, the bookmakers, put him at 2/5 to be judged the winner while Darling is at 7/4. A poll published last weekend also showed more than one in three voters think Salmond will win, while around 10 per cent said Darling.

Majority of which is historical. World has moved on, while the public sector lags well behind. Politicians no longer have the skill sets to run complex organisations. As have no career outside of punch and judy shows.

I do find it interesting that people accept media portrayal as fact as opposed to any direct impact / knowledge they personally have.

I've never met Alec Salmond in person.

I've watched him being interviewed, on QT, and SNP party political broadcasts. And I think he's pretty awful.
Let's be clear, I think there will be an initial cost to becoming an Independent country again, but beyond that, I believe we can be extremely competitive and efficient.

    "We"?

I thought you'd pushed off to the Far East?

Interesting, how do you rate him against other politicians.
    Who's better / worse.

    I had and now returned.
I know you popped of for a while but you would have seen I returned to build my own home in Scotland.

Not to say there won't be an opportunity abroad once again.

I didn't know you were back - hope you are enjoying it. I had a vague idea you were somewhere like Malaysia?
