How would the UK fare without Scotland?

Nice to see you turning sides and hoping for a YES vote.
If the UK wants Scotland to take on £100bn+ of it's debts (which we seem to be willing to do) then Scotland is entitled to a portion of the "security" we have helped to build up and pay for.
So it's nothing to do with "full autonomy".
what 'security' is that?
a share of the UK assets?
a vote on interest rates on the BoE committee (say about 8% of the votes) ?
a vote on banking regulation on the BoE committee (say 8% of the votes)?0 -

I really couldn't give a toss if Scotland voted Yes. I would expect them to share some of the UK's debt though, seeing as the UK provide Scott's with plenty free stuff like higher education that us south of the border have to pay upto £9,000 a year for. Health care costs are lower in Scotland than England.
In fact, Wales can also go if they want. England gets nothing in comparison to Scotland and Wales.
Split the debt equally and part company. I'm sure Scotland and Wales would be allowed to join the EU and have the Euro as their currency. Problem solved, job's a good 'un!0 -
I can't answer that.
It will all be negotiated if there is a YES vote.
so you agree that one possible result of negotiation would be a Scotland that wasn't 'independent' and couldn't determine its own economic policy?
but that of course, doesn't matter, as it's not the primary objective of the SNP.0 -

Taking a calculated approach rUK should weigh up the risks.
The first involves a loss of £100bn+ as you say.
The second is a currency union with a potentially divergent economy. The last time we attempted a currency union with such pressures it cost us £10bn in one single day, along with a significant hike in interest rates. Bad memories for many of us.
Considering the thread title, I think that rUK would fare better without a currency union. This appears to be the treasury view as well.0 -

If Scotland votes Yes, which looks increasingly unlikely, Scotland will automatically get a large share of the assets as lots of them are physically based in Scotland. As far as I know, nobody has suggested dismantling buildings in Scotland and moving them to Wales.0

They can fck off.

It won't have to. The British Government has said that the UK would retain the debt and would expect Scotland to make payments to the Treasury as liabilities come due to be paid.0
