Does your vet do 24/7 emergency calls? Might be worth calling? If nothing else but to get reassurance.

I'm sorry Lucy is so poorly. I'm crossing my fingers and toes and Pipsqueak is crossing her paws. She actually went a bit too far with the sympathy and chucked her guts up in the middle of the night as well.

Lots of cuddles to Lucy and a virtual hug for you, Zaksmum

I'm so sorry to hear about Lucy, I stayed up with my dog for 3 months, sleeping on the floor next to her basket until we lost her.
Thinking of you and Lucy and hoping for that miracle

I wouldn't be waiting for them to open in the morning. Can you call the emergency number and get down there ASAP? Keeping fingers crossed for you :A

Took Lucy up to bed about 10pm - she has her bed in our bedroom.

She was very restless, panting and gasping. Then about 11pm she vomited again. I cleaned her up and changed her bedding.

She vomited three times more then suddenly leaped up and ran downstairs where she threw up just about every last scrap of fluid inside her. She wanted to go out in the garden so she's out there now and I'm up with her, sitting by the open back door where she can see me.

I'll take her back to the vet first thing.

I'm starting to get a very bad feeling about this. Unless there's a miracle, I think Lucy might be in big trouble.

Please keep those positive thoughts going for her

One of our family dogs had an episode that sounds exactly like this a few years back, even down to wanting to lie on the cool flags in the garden all night.

In the end, they stayed in at the vets for about 4 days as I remember, but bounced back and were their old selves again once they'd recovered.

Try not to panic or to start imagining worst case scenarios. It sounds like a nasty bug but vets are pretty good at dealing with nasty bugs when they have the dog there 24/7 and a drip to get the meds in easily.

Good luck this morning, fingers crossed for her.
  • Hi Zaksmum...

    Sorry to intrude...

I think the reason she wanted to go out to the garden is because she may have wanted to eat some grass to make herself immediately sick. When my dog does that, he is sorted straight away, he was sick when he had his annual jabs earlier this month, but I walked him to the vet and he was knackered and it was quite warm too.

My dog eats grass whenever he is feeling unwell, I too think it could be the heat as well, especially if she is walked for long distance or just runs off the lead, she will get even more tired and may have heat exhaustion.

I hope she pulls through. x
