So you think it works like this...
Well, just to prove you wrong, when I went out this morning, I had the A/C on for most of the journey. I switched off both the AC and the fan. Parked up, switched the engine off (leaving the electrics on) and turned on the fan, and turned it to hot. Guess what... Yep, hot air.
Now, I'm guessing you're going to accuse me of lying or something pathetic like that, or do you actually have a logical explanation?
Before you argue that my car works differently to yours, I drive a VAG car, which you mentioned that yours was too.
The air drawn into the heaters had to travel through/over the warm engine bay:A0 -

The second post was a concise reply to the original question.
Which basically circles round to if you want to stay warm in winter, you can do and the car itself will work out that it needs the engine running to provide more heat at some point, be it 30 seconds or 30 minutes.
The rest of the thread is a demonstration on how to "win" an argument on the Internet by misinterpreting and ignoring all posts that prove you wrong.
Was my intial post not relevant and a concise answer too then? And many others on here?0 -

So, correct me if I am wrong, but the whole point of your argument was that it is impossible to get hot air out of the vents without the engine running, unless the car had previously been set to hot.
Now, I've just said that mine WILL blow hot air despite being set previously to cold, and you've agreed that it is possible.
So why the 8 pages of arguing?0 -

Because heaters dont work that way. Its not a revalation.0 -
So you agree with me, yet say that heaters don't work this way?
Blimey, and you've said (to pretty much everyone that's contradicted you, by the way) that I can't argue properly...
Im agreeing there may be hot air but it aint from the heater. Open a window today and hot air will come in. Thats not from the heater either;)0 -
