topdaddy:reread post 32“The type of work I do can mean sitting idling for a long time in situations where you would want the heater running. All the stop starts I have had had had a button to disable it although these are mostly VAG cars Originally posted by topdaddy ”
(motorguy) - Doesnt matter. The car will restart when it cant keep the heater at the setting you have it at anyway.
None of the above has anything to do with what you've been arguing about all this time. When a warmed up engine (where the heat comes from) switches off, irrespective of whether it has stop/start or not, you will continue to have warm air available for a while, from residual heat. You've been arguing that the heat instantly stops, it does not.
Further, with stop/start, there are plenty of systems in the car that mean if the engine is needed again for many reasons, the engine will be restarted.
And finally, I think everyone has agreed, that most cars have an override for start/stop if needed, but that the OP wouldn't need to override.Well you have assumed it would be on heat(which is fair)So I can expect your appology soon?0 -
I think the mods might have deleted it. Not sure why - it was neither your most offensive, nor most banal post.
Maybe they lost the will to live before they got round to removing the others?
So I didn't make up the post where he accidentally agreed with everyone? I was worried I'd started hallucinating for a while!0 -

LOL. Did he?
Maybe the mod removed it to keep the argument going?
Maybe there was that 2 minute eye of the storm where TD admitted he agreed with us and now we've lost that forever?0 -

You've been arguing that the heat instantly stops, it does not.really? If you could quote where i said that, that would be just great, super awesome in fact
Further, with stop/start, there are plenty of systems in the car that mean if the engine is needed again for many reasons, the engine will be restarted.if you could again remind me where I said otherwise that would support your case

I think I pretty much said as much did I not?:rotfl:
Nope, OP stated it, no assumption.did they? Where? Quote...well you know the drill
Trying my best to bring you round and actually help you understand what everyone else is saying, so no, you can't.0 -

So really then you're in agreement with what we're saying as to how stop start would / will work but you just cant bring yourself to admit it?
OR if not, what are you actually arguing about? because other than call people idiots for speaking the truth as if you have in some way a greater knowledge that you're not sharing AND made yourself look very foolish, i'm not really sure what else you've achieved here?0 -

Iknew you had forgotten. Heaters dont work like that.:p0 -

No reservations as such (although in the winter I do like the heater on whilst waiting to pick up the grandsons), it was just a discussion between hubby and me
The second post was a concise reply to the original question.
Which basically circles round to if you want to stay warm in winter, you can do and the car itself will work out that it needs the engine running to provide more heat at some point, be it 30 seconds or 30 minutes.
The rest of the thread is a demonstration on how to "win" an argument on the Internet by misinterpreting and ignoring all posts that prove you wrong.0 -
Iknew you had forgotten. Heaters dont work like that.not if the heater isnt set to hot before the engine shut down. Pixies or other wise, seriously what goes on in his head?
Well, just to prove you wrong, when I went out this morning, I had the A/C on for most of the journey. I switched off both the AC and the fan. Parked up, switched the engine off (leaving the electrics on) and turned on the fan, and turned it to hot. Guess what... Yep, hot air.
Now, I'm guessing you're going to accuse me of lying or something pathetic like that, or do you actually have a logical explanation?
Before you argue that my car works differently to yours, I drive a VAG car, which you mentioned that yours was too.0
