I'm going to ask a question of topdaddy:
Your central heating is on and you decide it is too hot. When you turn your CH off, do the radiators get instantly cold?
Now, change CH for engine and radiators for the heater matrix. After all, they are both containers filled with hot water.
What is the difference between the two systems?
How do you think car heaters work? After all, the OP asked about keeping warm in winter, therefore, the heater is already on when the SS system activates.

what the hell??you keep coming up with some right random stufftopdaddy thinks because the OP didn't ask a direct question do heater work when stop start is enabled he thinks he has one up on everyone, fortunately the OP mentioned the need to keep warm in winter, which suggests OP has some sort of ailment where keeping body temp regulated is key to their health, this is where this debate has derived from about cabin temp stop start and engine auto start to keep the cabin temp regulated. so the mere fact that a direct question wasn't posed, doesn't mean people cant offer some education on how the heating system works in a stop start. again, what the hell doe all that mean? Its got nothing to do with the price of fish or anything I or most other people have said:rotfl:
C'MON TOPDADDY WE ALL WANT TO KNOW YOUR VERSION OF HOW THEY WORK!!! and for clarity, Topdaddy HOW DOES THE HEATING SYSTEM WORK IN A STOP START CAR?you dont always get what you want by shouting you know
just incase he needed a direct question to answer.0 -

Central heating random enough. Not at all whats being discussed but if the thermostat is not set to hot ie below current room temp the radiator would not increase in temperature after the heating was shut down and the theromstat was subsequently turned up to a temp higher than that in the room.
Strange analolgy but it does highlight my point, thanks for the oppotunity to do so:rotfl:0 -

So what you're saying is IF the radiator was off AND the heat was switched off AND you turned the thermostat up then you wouldn't get any heat?0 -

This is strongly confusing the matter. The idividual radiators havent been mentioned(they dont correspond to a cars syststem-not that central heating generally does:think:) and its not clear what you mean by "heat". But reading your above question Id hazard a guess at :no, although with the caveat above.0 -

Maybe your post would have been clearer? I never saw it.0 -

Well for a moment before this post I thought "maybe it is us being obtuse?" But no, its you.0 -

No ones being obtuse, afterall your confusing matters with radiators( the non automotive kind) which bears zero relevance to, well anything. Are you going to argue thats not the case too? Seriously?
And the same for washing machine elements and central heating as a whole(granted not brought up by you)?0 -

You haven't actually answered this. And because you seem to refuse to answer to shouting, Topdaddy, how does the heating system work in a stop start car?0
