    You really need a hobby.
    :D

The way of TVL justice means that the 80 cases (84 IIRC) took just over 2 hours.

The all-day session was the first ever TVL obstruction case, and it was against someone well known in the legally licence-free world.

Well he/she deserved the fine for being so dumb.

Thanks, Linda. I was struggling for the words to break it to him.

It sounds like he was victim to one of those TVL "clerical errors" where they bring a case without having gathered any actual evidence.

Well, this has been a fun thread and a mine of (mis)information!:D

I've yet to have my visit from TVL, which is a source of great disappointment to me. Going by Kayak's posts they will point out the aerial on my roof. This is a source of great annoyance as it acts as a perch for the pigeons who then c**p on my solar panels, thus reducing their output. I'll ask TVL to remove it: I'm sure they'll oblige..

I've got a little notice on my doorbell telling anybody who doesn't know my name to go away. TVL don't appear to have made any effort to discover mine so hopefully they'll go away too..

On a more serious note, I've always thought that any device they might carry could be a sensitive directional microphone: "You were listening to Coronation Street!".. "OK, it's a fair cop". I just hope they have the intelligence to recognise I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue or The Archers when they hear it.

This is a public forum. If you want to dictate policy you'll need to start your own forum.

This is an issue of legitimate public interest - which presumably you agree with, otherwise you wouldn't have started the thread in the first place.

I accept this is a "public forum " it's just a shame " the public " seem to have gone off on all sorts of tangents Mostly away from my original point :-(
  • Anyone seen Count Arthur Strong recently? An excellent BBC comedy, haven't seen it aired live recently...hmm.

Linda this post has fallen into the cattogary of attack the writer May be you live in an area that doesn't get visits YET but belivie me they WILL catch up with you then we will see whos "the idiot " it's not a nice experience
All this thread was supposed to do is let others know about TVL tactics and to see how many have been stressed by thier aggresive letters
At present they have the FULL backing of the law unlike any other company that can only take you to the small claims court under £5000
So please STOP slagging me of and if your interested back my campaign

I think that's what you get if you start a TV licensing discussion in a credit card forum. Not really the right target audience to take it seriously.

If you check it has been moved to TV licensing ( I assume by the mods ? )
I have NEVER started a new post and have no idea how to as I'm very new to this
To be quite honest I didn't realise how many people on this sight take great pleasure on not only going of on tangents but also ridiculing the post writer
To this end it's a shame but it really has put me off writing anything on here
I'm only glad I have never ( and don't intend to ) join any of the social media sites out there

A "visit" is not a prosecution - especially if you aren't doing anything wrong.

The reason why people avoid them is because of the risk of hassle, incompetence, and at the extreme, corruption. (And, of course, because there is no legal requirement to tolerate them).

All this thread was supposed to do is let others know about TVL tactics and to see how many have been stressed by thier aggresive letters
Nothing wrong with that, but you've made the error of assuming that because it is new to you, it is new to everyone else, and that isn't the case. The letters are well documented: http://www.bbctvlicence.com/ (This being the first result when you enter "TVL letters" into Google).

The typical arc of an MSE "newbie" thread is this: newbie comes on and states their issue, potentially with errors of fact and understanding. More knowledgeable people come along and add facts, knowledge, background and potential solutions. Newbie learns from those people. End of thread. You resist that at your peril - people just want to help, that is the purpose of MSE.
At present they have the FULL backing of the law...
    They do and they don't.

There are nearly 10000 households that have used a common law device called WOIRA to ban TVL from their premises. That's using the law against TVL.

Well I'm still seeing it crop up in the credit card forum. And I'm not ridiculing you, I'm trying to point out why it may not be going the way you intend it to, and why we on this forum are all such a bunch of "idiots" as you put it
