Good for you Lula - life is too short to be unhappy in your job. I cut down to less hours at school teaching and now do lots of private music tuition - one to one teaching and no marking, much more fun :)

God, so am now back-pedalling. I got scared of finding nothing else or going into, another job I hate just as much but being worse off financially so cracked and asked for a sabbatical instead. What if they agree? Means will be even longer before I make the change. I'm such an idiot

  • Not an idiot Lula, I think it's a good idea to give you a breather and some space - it might just be what you need. How long have you asked for? X

Hi MC. Asked for a minimum of 2 but ideally 3 months off. But can only take from sept as need to save up to be able to afford up to 4 months off - not sure if they'll go for it but they had said they want to keep me and it will be much cheaper for them waiting to see if I change my mind rather than recruiting someone else - but I think I feel more stressed thinking about staying again. Why is it so hard?!

Take some time off Lulabellle. I can't stress that enough. Assess how you feel after a couple of weeks and adjust your decision if you need to. I swapped jobs took part time for approx 40% pay cut and it's all working out. I'm almost back up to same pay for less stressful job in a completely new job.

I was a bit like you and didn't want to take holiday as I thought I'd just be at home worrying. But I really needed a break from the job and unfortunately couldn't think straight. Go as soon as you can, even if it's 3 weeks off, relax, unwind and the answer will become clear. Stop putting looking after yourself on hold. That's an order missy x

Thanks SS though it looks like decision may have been taken out of my hands. Mentioned it to the one I didn't get on with today and feedback/reaction did not seem positive. So much for them not wanting me to go

Though guess in some ways it may give me the push I need since if they are accepting my resignation and there's no going back I'm forced to move on

So they've still not talked to me about it. The boy thinks they're playing hardball and trying to scare me into staying. But if they won't even engage I do think it makes my decision for me in some ways.

Am training tonight - on a Friday night!!! Was meant to go this morning but was a bit hungover as the boy took me out to dinner last night which was lovely.

Then am fake tanning and watching tv! Boy is out but staying here though I suspect I'll be fast asleep when he rolls in!

Were off away for the weekend tomorrow which should be lovely

Sorry to hear that they aren't being very quick about it Lulabelle, but no news is good news maybe, so you never know. Try to put it out of your mind, you are right, it may now be out of your hands. If there's nothing you can do there is no point worrying. SS1K x

I hope they soon talk to you about your options LuLu, it's very unfair of them to make suggestions that may be helpful then not follow them up.
Good luck which ever decision you make xxxxx
