Don't think I've met Shane or Weller. I did make an error with MCS.... A few weeks ago, they sent the stinky letter about my not setting up the standing order (I had, but they had sent the paperwork so late the money did not reach them by the end of September).

Anyway, on the phone then, apparently I said I would pay £2 this month, to make up for the standing order not going through last month. The SO was not my fault, and I don't *remember* offering to pay £2, although it is possible. So they received £1 a few days ago, October's payment, so I have had the 2 phone calls today about the £1 I might have said I would pay....

  • re above post, martin has written about this company on another thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=6679693#post6679693 to say:

    Dear Debt Doctors.

I'm rather concerned about the link above. I have never heard of your charity and I cannot see a registered charity number. The information on the site is also limited and generic.

If you are genuine I apologise but at the moment. I would strongly caution any MoneySavers from going there or donating. If you can provide a registered charity number so you can be checked out. That would be great.

Ignore any post that has a link to debt advice and comes from a new OP.

Re: Tax credits - still getting £77 per week.

HM Revenue and Customs have replied and said they will reply properly by 28th November. (Not quite sure why it would take 6 weeks when its all on the computer in front of them!)

JobCentrePlus (Marches District Office) have sent a massive 2 sheet reply! The chap says his response is also in response to the letter I sent to the Independant Case Examiner.
They apologise for NEVER answering the phone and state it is a shame there is no "you are the 3rd in the queue" facility. They are trying to get more staff and improve their IT systems...
Also, my phone can't accept incoming calls from caller withheld numbers so they tried to phone me but couldn't.

I sent an s.a.e to the CAB this time, when I asked for copies of the 2 mysterious letters they sent to MCS without my knowledge.

Today, my s.a.e came back and contained...... a scrutty photocopied leaflet of how to reclaim bank charges! (Which I did last year).

Given what we have learned about your local CAB, that does not surprise me. Soory but folks sin the country all to often get appalling services, from the private, state and voluntary sectors.

Had a long phone call from the Tax Credits people in Preston this morning. They told me what the maximum Tax Credits was for 2 children (£4000+) and they divided this by 52 and I should be getting £77 per week... which I am.
