I've had a very recent problem with logging onto TA.

I was asked to change my password and now I can't log back in on my laptop.

I get the log-in page where you are invited to sign in via facebook or google or just sign in to your TA account.

When I enter my email address & password, it just reverts back to the log-in screen.
I get no message at all, error or otherwise.

I tried (as per TA Dan's suggestion in the post by London50 above) clearing cookies and also tried to log in using .com instead of .co.uk.
    No joy.

I managed to log in using my OH's desktop pc and someone on TA support board suggested I try a different browser.

I tried Firefox on my laptop and I still can't get in to TA.

I can however log on using IE or Firefox on my OH's desktop.

Another annoying thing is that I've recently started posting the odd message to TA using my smartphone.
Since having to change my TA password, it now allows me to write a post but it will not post it to the board until I've logged in - even though I'm logged in as soon as I open TA.
It asks for my email address & password EVERY time I try to post anything - even in the same session.

I don't know what TA have been messing about with, but I'm finding it very frustrating.

    Hi

    I have been having the same problem, the only way I can log into my forum is to use the USA site {flag at the top shows the UK one so I click on that and change to the USA flag then I can post} but as a DE I do not have any problem on our forum {it may be that the DE forum is just USA based}
Like you I find it very frustrating but I think that the TA people are working on it we just do not know how long it will take to sort out :0(

Very helpful. Hopefully when they respond your contact will be able to advise how a contributor/poster can contact Trip Advisor if their account is blocked or disabled. What most people would like to know if this happens the reason why. If is justified then that should be the end of the story, but it seems in many cases blocking of the accounts is done at the whim of someone at TA because of a negative comment made on a forum or review. Nothing is always good and one should be allowed to write poor reviews but not slating an individual. The review is about the establishment and not one person working there. Maybe if information is found out how we can contact TA about a blocked account it can be posted on this forum. Thank you

No problem :0) I will do what I can, OK no promises as like the rest I am in the hands of TA but any updates I get I will post on here.

    Update from me:

OH has cleared some more stuff from my laptop and I can now log into TA using both IE and Firefox.

I'll see later today if I'm still having an issue with posting on my phone.
  • I have sent a private message today to London50 to ask him to put forward both my husband's and mine User Names forward to his contact (Dan). My account was disabled first then my husband's was automatically blocked as we use the same IP address from our home computer. Hopefully I may be able to find out the reason and get my account reconnected. Even if I had done something unintentionally incorrect it seems very unfair to disable my husband's account as we use the same PC

Pompey Pete ,you went on a crusade on a particular TA forum
Your mission was to get another contributor banned.
    Isn't that correct, Pete?
That backfired on you and you had your TA account disabled.
You,it must be said, were the architect of your own demise on TA.
I watched all this cringe worthy childish behaviour going on at the time .
Your description of another TA user on a post here (juliemoo) is an example of your behaviour and foul language on that TA forum.

    Rambler, here's my TA History...

Hardly the record of someone on some sort of crusade.

It takes two to tango. My mistakes were three-fold. Firstly for posting too much first-hand stuff on the Tunisia forum, which unfortunately was too accurate for some people. Secondly, for challenging some of the rubbish or hear-say that regularly got posted. And thirdly, allowing myself to get sucked-in by a pair of bullies.

I even created a second user name, which I didn't use on the Tunisia Forum. Why a second user Name? So, I couldn't be followed half way round the world on TA forums, by people intent on discrediting me.

I can't recall ever using foul language on TA, though I admit to being a little unforgiving at times when sensible threads containing lots of useful advice got pulled left and right by Chat Room nonsense.

    Amen.

Folk like Juliemoo (a gob-sh*te on the Tunisia forum) are the sort of TA member who form a clique to get rid of people who post good informative, first hand stuff, yet they spit their dummy when it goes against them!

Steady on, that's a bit much. I've seen far worse on these forums.

What is the point in reading your TA history?
Your posts calling on others to join you in attempting to have a member banned were all removed.
It was absolutely mindboggling what you got up to on that forum.
You even tried to rope in Destination Experts on other forums to side with you in having a member banned
You posted on support forums seeking advice on how to achieve all this.
Yes, you know the destinations alright.
And some of your advice was very good
But you have a very short memory of what went on and your part in this "mission" to discredit and have another member banned from the forums.
You deserved the ban you received. And you admitted such in your apology to TA
And I guess you were not re instated after your pleading letter to Dan, as you had been banned before

Maybe you should leave it behind you and move on rather than spending to much energy on getting your membership back on a website.
You likely would not receive a warm welcome anyway on that particular forum.
I will leave it at that.
Good luck to you in your future travels

Looking at that link in isolation then I agree.
And no doubt, I'm coming across as the bad boy.
But there's a much bigger picture, which will only take this thread off-topic.
