In the meantime why not also pose the same question on the the TA Support Forum?

The Support Forum's well populated with people eager to offer words of wisdom on the mysteries and myths of TA.

I did a search on that forum using the word 'disabled', and it threw up lots of related threads, but I'm still none the wiser.

    Hi Pollycat and others

    @ Pollycat
For the record, it was you who said you were. 'Cankerous'.
Do you mean cantankerous, by any chance? {I know it was me that said it and yes cantankerous was what I meant, old age is a telling thing :0)

RIGHT to get straight to the point, I have now had a reply back from TA and here is the message they sent

    Hi xxxxxxxx

Thank you for contacting TripAdvisor. No, we have not taken any actions or enabled any filters specific to UK members. We have recently received some reports, though, of members who have been unable to sign in after changing their passwords. Our engineers are currently investigating this issue, but in the meantime, affected members have advised they have been able to resolve the problem by clearing their browser cookies or signing into a different TripAdvisor site, i.e. tripadvisor.com instead of tripadvisor.co.uk (or vice-versa, depending on which site they normally use).

If a user's account has been banned, on the other hand, they should receive the error message "Your user account has been disabled" when they attempt to sign into their account. If someone is not getting this exact message, that means that their user account is not banned, and the steps above should resolve the issue, if it is a sign-in issue. If these members are actually able to sign into their accounts but are not able to post to the forums, there may be other issues that need to be resolved.

Without knowing which members are having the problems, though, I'm not able to determine which problem they are having. I would certainly be happy to investigate further if you can pass on the screen names of any of the members who are having trouble signing in.

    Best regards,

    Dan

Now i do not know if this helps anyone but at least I did get an answer from them. The only other thing I can offer to the people that are in the situation {but not before middle/end this week} is if anyone wants to PM me with their screen names I will try and get them over to TA to see what they can sort out
I do know that if any are banned TA MAY give me some info stating that point but that is not to say I can do anything to plead a case for them.
OK I have done for you what I can and I do honestly hope this can resolve the problem for some {if not all} of you.

Folk like Juliemoo (a gob-sh*te on the Tunisia forum) are the sort of TA member who form a clique to get rid of people who post good informative, first hand stuff, yet they spit their dummy when it goes against them!

Juliemoomoo seems no different from lots of other people on forums.
You really take all this forum stuff too seriously.

Had to chuckle at these posts, TA is a mystery at disabling accounts, mine included for no reason

Yep, and I wish they'd pee off to Fakebook, Twatter or all the other social media that's available to post 'tosh'! There's even an un-moderated Off-topic forum on TA to have a giggle on.

The odd giggly posting is alright, but it's all the time on some TA forums. It's irritating, and encourages more childish 'tosh'.

TBH, Pete, I think it's just a fact of life on TA forums.

I ignore the 'woohoo! Only 291 sleeps' type of posts.

The reply from TA Dan is interesting.
It seems to acknowledge that there is a problem for some users after changing their passwords but does not comment on the reason why some people appear to have had their accounts disabled for no reason whatsoever and others for simply posting a negative review.

OK if anyone in this situation wants to PM me with their TA screen name I will collect them up over the weekend and pass them on to TA to see if any of the issues can be resolved.
I cannot promise that your problems will be sorted or that I will even get any information back but at least I will try for you.

Very helpful. Hopefully when they respond your contact will be able to advise how a contributor/poster can contact Trip Advisor if their account is blocked or disabled. What most people would like to know if this happens the reason why. If is justified then that should be the end of the story, but it seems in many cases blocking of the accounts is done at the whim of someone at TA because of a negative comment made on a forum or review. Nothing is always good and one should be allowed to write poor reviews but not slating an individual. The review is about the establishment and not one person working there. Maybe if information is found out how we can contact TA about a blocked account it can be posted on this forum. Thank you
