OH has no clue for my birthday present!

Sweetheart - he's a man - not a mind reader! TELL HIM if you want him to have the day off and spend it with you ...TELL HIM if you want to go out for a romantic dinner a deaux .....TELL HIM if you'd like flowers ......don't build yourself up for an anti-climax birthday because he doesn't realise what you really, really want!
I agree, there is nothing wrong with telling him what you want.
I don't think you are expecting too much to want a special day - too many days are monotonous and dreary - nice to have something to look forward to

I agree with Skintchick. Being a man doesn't prevent you from being able to buy thoughtful presents for people or thinking for yourself about what your partner would want you to do on their birthday like people on this thread think.:j Tehya Baby DD 22/03/2012 :j

lulu92, I know what you are saying, but has it occurred to you that maybe he had 'help' spoiling you last year because it was a special birthday?
You cannot change the way he is, he won't magically become 'thoughtful'. Yes, there are men out there who are, but maybe he's just not one of them.
I really enjoy the whole process of seeking out something for someone and choosing something that will really mean something to them. I love surprising them and hoping they will really enjoy their gift, that's just my personality.
My OH, on the other hand, is NOT like that. In the slightest. And I'm fine with that, I really am. That's why I give him a helping hand.
I would hate, absolutely hate, if I nagged him into being more 'thoughtful', and he went and spent a lot of money on something HE reckoned was thoughtful, but that I absolutely hated! lol

Just thought I'd update.
OH took me out this morning after I said I wanted something pretty. He decided he wanted me to have some jewellery as I don't have any that isn't from Primark. So he got me a lovely necklace and then some earrings when the woman at the till was up selling them. So I'm really happy with what I've got.
Then he walked me into Pandora telling me he wanted to get me a charm for my bracelet and picked out a really nice one for me
I told you he was capable
