    Hi Mavii,
I've put below the efficiencies of the different panels. There isn't a great deal of difference in them apart from the fact you need less Trina than Qcell(along with a higher premium)

    1. Trina 270 watt Black mono panels (x14 for 3.78kW system) 16.2%
    2. Qcell 250 watt silver panel (x16 for 4kW system).14.97%

take a look at this also, just a quick search on fleabay...

    Now that's a better price!!!

    Hi Guys,

I had Green Deal Savings Round Today.

He quoted me on a 4kw system, no shading, south south east facing roof, 30deg roof pitch.

When i asked him about web interfaces and such like to monitor the system he went blank :)

Other than telling me the panels were all black and made by Seraphim I have no other details of the system quoted.

However is initial quote was 10259.05

I went on to tell him this was way too expensive, within an hour my quote had dropped to £8000

I dont particular trust these guys now tbh, so can someone please recommend a good system/installer in south yorkshire with realistic pricing for good quality.

He also told me I was going to make £49182 in savings and feedin over 20 years which seemed a little optimistic!!

    Thanks

    Hi sgooduk,

And still the cowboys ride the range.

Take a look at these guys http://www.ctsrenewables.co.uk/
they've done an install for myself and my parents and are very reasonably priced, ask for Paul West

A 4kwp system with Canadian solar black on black panels with a sunnyboy inverter should come in around the £5-6k with some sort of monitoring thrown in, one question though, do you have any shading of your roof at all?

Strewth! When (oh when) is this ever gonna end. Even the Energy Saving Trust, who always seem to be about 12 months behind the cost curve are now suggesting:
The average domestic solar PV system is 4kWp and on average costs between £6,000 and £7,400 (including VAT at 5%).

    http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/Generating-energy/Choosing-a-renewable-technology/Solar-panels-PV

On this site people have been getting close to £6k for a year, and this year, a lot of people have got under, often with diversionary switches included too.

Glad you didn't fall for that, that's an average of £5k pa. I wish.

The trick they use is to suggest that you'll make use of 50% of the generated leccy (which is damn hard), then apply a monstrous level of compounded inflation year on year to push that figure up wildly.

Very rough number, but a south(ish) facing system will probably save/earn you around £700 - £800pa.

    Doh!

In that case if it's only £2.5k, hardly worth getting out bed for. :o

    Thanks guys for the replies,

I'm south south East no shading so should do well. I am also quite a heavy user with 4 kids.

I'll give ctsrenewables a call, I have contacted solargen in Halifax, anyone have experience of them?

    Cheers

    Hi Guys,

As the feed in tariff only differs by 1p from 4k to 5k, and the additional cost is only a few hundred, is it worth going for a 5kw over a 4kw system?? No shading south south east.

    Thanks

    Scott

    Hi
If you have the room then i'd go bigger, how much more can you fit up there? Any ideas of your rough roof size?

Not solargen, no. But Solarlex in Halifax did my install which I'm very pleased with.
