Nargleblast wrote: »Has anyone dealt with Energy Hypermarket? Their rep quoted £9075 for a ten panel system with voltage optimiser. Unfortunately the paperwork doesn't give specific details of the panels proposed. The surveyor was here today and we will apparently get a phone call towards the end of next week going over the figures and confirming installation date. Both the rep and the surveyor seemed genuine enough but having seen some prices quoted I am now wondering if their quote is a bit high?
Sounds horrifically expensive.
For 2.5kWp you'd want to be spending less than half that. Also, why only 2.5kWp, isn't there any room for more? Is there space on the west roof?
Run away from that quote.

Thanks, tunnel, I feel a bit of a prat, my OH was saying we should think about it, seems he was right. Will definitely cancel asap. I was getting cold feet about being tied to such a long term deal anyway. I suppose I am not the first to get suckered in. A learning experience, definitely. One life - your life - live it!0

To give you an idea Nb, my WNW 10 panel 2.5kWp system stood me at just over £4k, that's less than half the price you've been quoted...and prices have fallen since then, looking at your sig...shop around, your way too savvy to fall for that.
If you need any "advice", just post on here, there's a plenty more than happy to help2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -

Good news, but also sorry to hear that your plans didn't work out.
Don't give up though, we can all offer lots of ideas, help and suggestions if you still want PV. You'll see lots of different sizes and orientations in peoples autosigs, so worth having a ponder about your options.
If you have, and can use your west roof too, then that'll work out well.
All the best.

Quick question:
What is the difference (ignoring aesthetics) in performance between black mono panels and silver poly panels?
The black mono panels are in a 3.78kW system costing £500 more than 4kW system with silver poly panels.0 -

No one can answer that without actually knowing the make of the panels, all comes down to the efficiency of the individual panels2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -
The two options are:
1. Trina 270 watt Black mono panels (x14 for 3.78kW system)
2. Qcell 250 watt silver panel (x16 for 4kW system).
