To minimise cabbageyness of cabbage(!) I would cut, blanche for just a couple of minutes, shake dry and finish off cooking in butter and black pepper. You could then cut again into even smaller bits - if you choose a fairly light cabbage, in this dish he might think its the texture of onion he is getting, not cabbage! Mix with mashed potatoes, cooked onions I used to simmer these in milk which makes them very sweet and with no harshness (then the onion milk is great in a cheese sauce!) You can also cooked chopped bacon/lardons/ham chunks. Mix it all together with some butter and grated cheese - this takes all sorts of herbs really well so add whatever your lot like. Top with a bit more grated cheese and bake until crispy. This is how I got my husband to eat loads of cabbage - I slowly cut the cabbage less and moved to greener cabbage as he got used to it. This is great to make in bulk and freezes well.0 -

Is bubble and squeek ok to freeze after cooking as will try that today.
im doing a fish pie will sneak some in there.
want to do veg lasagne but not sure what to put in it, if cabbage would go.
I find it freezes ok, if you reuse it as an ingredient rather than on its own.
Bubble and squeak is an excellent freezer staple- i freeze it like burgers with greaseproof/baking paper in between for easy separation later
Cabbage soup is worse than beans for side effects
mix the cabbage, fried with onions and mince plus tomatoes etc to make your red part of the lasagne
the main thing is chopping it very fine- almost grated texture then it can be snaeked in almost anywhereIf you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, its just possible you haven't grasped the situation0 -

boiled cabbage as kid with roast very unappealing.
My MIL introduced me to an entirely new way of cooking cabbage which I've tweaked a little to suit my own taste. Fry a diced onion and about a tsp of fenugreek seeds in butter until the onion starts to brown, add diced/sliced cabbage and a little turmeric and stir for a couple of minutes then put a lid on the pan for about 5 mins. I guess you could add mustard seeds instead of fenugreek and the turmeric could be paprika or cayenne pepper. Very tasty and no hint of overcooked boiled cabbage. I always make extra when I cook it because it's nice in a bubble and squeek the next day."Who’s that tripping over my bridge?" roared the Troll.

If you stir-fry finely shredded green cabbage in a some sunflower oil in a really hot wok with a couple of cloves of garlic, crushed, and a red chilli, finely chopped, it is really nothing like boiled cabbage. It goes nice with savoury crumbles.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

not the best for the warm weather - but it freezes well.
Shred quater / half a cabbage finely, with chopped/grated whatever veg you have - carrots, courgettes, peppers, haricot beans are good, boil it together with a zapped can of tomatos and a ham bone or stock cube. add a bit of pasta at the end of cooking0 -
