I don't like cooked cabbage at all but I eat a lot of home made coleslaw."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0

I'm not a lover of boiled cabbage either (school dinners _pale_) I either steam it with a good sprinkling of black pepper or put a knob of butter in a pan, throw in the sliced up cabbage a sprinkle of salt & pepper and put the lid on, turn on the heat and as the butter melts, still keeping the lid on toss the cabbage, after a 2-3 mins the cabbage is done and smothered in lovely buttery juices.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

Slice it up thin, fry gently in a knob of butter, and add to mash with spring onions or leeks
Mmmmnnnnnnn cabbage and mash................Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
Finely dice an onion, thinly slice the cabbage. Soften the onion in a little butter, add the cabbage, some caraway/fennel/cumin seeds and a little turmeric. Cook on high heat for 2 minutes. If you like the cabbage a little softer, add a tsp of water after the 2 mins and cover for another couple of mins."Who’s that tripping over my bridge?" roared the Troll.

Do it indian style! slice cabbage thinly and put in a big colander, and place it over a big bowl. Pour a kettle of freshly boiled water over the cabbage, and let it sit for a while. This will steam the cabbage a bit, and get rid of the cabbage smell. In a wok, heat a couple of tablespoons of oil, add mustard seeds and / or cumin seeds, and let them splutter. drain and add the cabbage, add turmeric, salt and garam masala / ground spice / allspice. Cover and steam, stirring every 5 to 10 mins. Cook until done, then taste for seasonings, add more garam masala, and chopped coriander if you like. This can be eaten as a side dish with a curry meal, on its own as a salad, or mix with some mayo for a great sandwich filling.0

These two recipes work well for all kinds of cabbage"doing the best you enjoy, not the best you can tolerate, is truly the best you can do sustainably."0 -
