That's one way of course:rotfl:. Personally, knowing that children get their hand slapped for doing something wrong, therefore its an adult thing to do to slap a wrongdoers hand, and a child thing to be on the receiving end = I'd slap their hand.
It would be dual purpose. Stop them and show them I regarded them as a child for doing that.0 -
I remember being at a dinner with some American guests who thought nothing of spearing stuff on other's plates with their forks uninvited. That was until my (then) boyfriend's Mother rapped one hard across the knuckles with a dessert spoon and explained that it just doesn't wash here in the UK.0

*Thinks about it*
I've given a dog a very mild tap on the nose, just with two fingers, for approaching my plate with a view to stealing food, so yes, I think I'd slap their hand. I'd also exclaim loudly "Hey, that's mine. Eat your own!"If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Gosh, I couldn't ever imagine doing that to someone, or have it done to me. The people here who have said that people have taken their last bit is unbelievable, haha.
I really enjoy my food and sometimes I save the best till last, so if someone started taking the best bits, grrr.
I even ask my children if they don't want something on their plate before I tuck in and they are only 5 and 3!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

And re takeaway food. I know that Chinese for example, you get a load of containers and share, but I've always been a one tub of food girl. And so I know people think me a bit strange when they order a bit of everything to share out, and I just want to pay £3.90 for my chicken chow mein, haha.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

I don't mind people I know stealing from my plate provided they don't use a used fork and don't touch what I'm going to eat. No feeling for the best one and letting me eat what their hands have been touching. I would only take from someone's plate if invited.:female: INFP :female:0

Are people saying "Please stop" in a gentle tone of voice or telling them "Do NOT touch my food. I know you apparently think its okay. But it ISNT. Keep your hands OFF" in a very firm voice with strong expression on face.
I slap them away/stab with fork or knife or spoon.. say 'get the f*** away from my food before I rip off your offending limb and beat you with it'
Then I get clean cutlery!!
It doesn't happen again.. point made!!
I got a cooked breakfast this morning and when it arrived I asked my mother if she wanted my grilled tomato, yes please she said and I used my unused fork to shove it onto her plate.. This is as good as we get at 'sharing' food!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Reminds me of Joey from friends:
"Joey doesn't share food"
Come to think of it we don't either - its rude, no doubt about it. I might ask my husband if he wants a bit of my food if he's ordered different to me, its never forthcoming the other way, he jokes with the above line!!!!0 -

Person in question ate their own snack and then started to take from my plate! No asking....and we are talking adult here!
Grrrr.....
I said what are you doing? " oh I only wanted a bit".
Gave my food to the dog after that. So cross.
This reminded me of Christmas a couple of years ago. We had a buffet spread on the table in the evening, and DS was loading his plate when my dad came along to get some food, and started taking food off DS's plate, not realizing that it was his, DS was gobsmacked, lol!Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

I hate.
Crumbs from toast left in the butter/margarine tub from last time.
Toilet rolls left on the floor....
Drives me nuts....make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
