One thing I cannot stand :(

is another person taking food off my plate.

Person in question ate their own snack and then started to take from my plate! No asking....and we are talking adult here!
Grrrr.....

I said what are you doing? " oh I only wanted a bit".

Gave my food to the dog after that. So cross.

    I agree with you.

I was very annoyed when I met with a group of friends for a baked-potato type meal at a cafe after work. I was famished, hadn't eaten much since breakfast, plus am pretty skint so it was a treat to eat out, however humbly.

One bliddy woman burbled on about how she'd had a big lunch, wolfed down her own food and started delving into mine with her used fork, without so much as a by-your-leave! I was gobsmacked at her rudeness and lack of sense of hygeine, told her not to do it, but she just giggled and seemed to think she was being cute (maybe at 5 but not at 25, love) and carried on.

In the end, I had to pointedly move my plate out of her reach and was tempted to smack her across the hand. Sheesh, you shouldn't have to defend your food from your dining companions, we're not little children or lions around a wildebeest carcase, fer cryin' out loud.

  • I have the same trouble, we occasionally go out for a meal with my ex mother in law. She is a very, very overweight lady and I'm sorry to say...a pig.
She will gobble hers up and then either grab food from mine or my DD plate. She's eaten her own very large meal, a dessert and then starts on ours. My DD hasn't the words to tell her and obviously doesn't want to upset her Nan. And I don't know what to say either. It's embarrassing and puts you off of wanting to go on an outing with her.

:( My personal food thief was very slender, but I considered her manners were piggish.

I have shared food with friends when eating out, by agreement, sharing desserts by cutting them up with clean cutlery and putting them on each other's clean plates before we started in on them with our own utensils. That's acceptable, IMO, if both parties want it, but food-stealing? Never.

I have never come across people stealing food from my plate, but I think if above did not work I would stab their hand with my fork
