I have never come across people stealing food from my plate, but I think if above did not work I would stab their hand with my fork

Err... I've actually done that and then shouted "what the hell do you think you are doing!"

If they ask, fine. If not, NOT.

I cannot believe that there are so many ill mannered people in the world. If I'm eating with a friend we might offer each other a taste of what we are having but for anyone to just help themselves from another's plate is incredible to me!
Anyone that rude does not deserve any consideration in my opinion - so stabbing, loudly asking if that person intends to pay for what they're eating or is theft part of their lifestyle, right up to throwing the lot in their lap would be entirely justified in my eyes.

I was on a college course and a group of us ladies always lunched together..........and this one woman wouldn't order chips or potatoes because she was 'on a diet', but she seemed to think that the calories stayed on our plates if she pinched chips or spuds - the final straw was when she took my last bite of deep fried battered cod! I smacked her hand with my knife - and said - 'Its triple the calories if you steal it'!
then we found out she doesn't like vinegar - I don't mind it, but never used to put it on as you have to pay for a little sachet. but, we all did one week - that cured her!!!!!!!!!

You know what I hate..if you offer someone food, they decline, but then when you get yours, they want it
The opposite of what you know...is also true

I agree with you all except for the (I think, but please correct me) male problem with their wife or partner having a few of their chips. I am talking about five or six here and yet it always seems to create such an issue. Order your own, they say. What a waste for five or six chips, all picked delicately off the plate. What do you think?

nope - unless by prior arrangement! taking food off someones plate without a 'by-your-leave' is a definite 'no-no'. I have a small apetite, but I hate people pinching my food! if I don't want something I will invite others to take it - otherwise keep off! or I may even offer something if its really nice and I want others to try it. and I may think I have too many chips! and offer them to other diners. but don't nick food off MY plate - tis disrespectful.

My husbands revolting nephews used to do this as older teenagers to my kids.
My solution was never to allow them to be seated near my kids.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'd actually rather offer my food than be watched my someone greedily.

DH and I taste each other's meals, by mutual consent, but I hate that thing of people who stare at your plate like predators. I'm less worried about germs than I should be, and more about wanting to eat feeling relaxed!

One person who I know, I just cut them off a bit of what I'm having as soon as it arrives.

A few of my friends share thinking about it, but its different to that feeling of 'predation', the stare of needing to taste all rather than curious and excited to.
