You will find Nicola very helpful. I'm so grateful to this thread and others for guiding me to EB.

We are all different, I thought for a while that mineral make up wasn't going to suit my temperamental skin and I was gutted. Glad to say, that EB has been brill for me. My previous 'mistakes' (for me personally), of Lily lilo and sheer cover, were passed to my sister, she really likes the sheer cover and it suits her.

I still am happy with the Liz Earle moisturiser, and especially to the comfrey I found, must order some more.

  • I'm not sure about Sheer Cover, but there are lots of mineral make ups available. We use them in the salon, and they do take quite a bit of getting used to, but the results are great. A company called Lily Lolo make excellent quality mineral make up, from foundation to eyeshadows, and they do samples of foundation for only 99p, which last about a week. Bargain :)

Thank you for this! I was being very torn between which ones to go for and have to say that Lily Lolo were the quickest to respond and keep me up to speed with order etc!

Only the 'eyes' have it thus far but I think I will go Lily Lolo rather then the Bare Minerals when I need replacements! Still waiting for the Sheer Cover item! Got spoilt by Lily Lolo's quick response etc! Think there are humans at the other end!!

What? You never tried Elemental Beauty??? Must try them. AND definitely humans at other end of phone or email - and will assist you with shades etc!!

They do a great healing foundation which is lovely and can recommend their brushes too.

All of their products come beautifully wrapped and makes you feel like a princess - which is not easy at my age :o

Have noted and will def try them - will their site come up on google search? is it dot com or co uk? Not sure if ok to give url's here?

I also started new thread to ask about The Lift - no replies yet and I am humming and hah - ing...don't know how to spell that one!!

I need to pratice with the minerals as I tend to be too heavy handed - so far is good.

How old are you - roughly? I am 62 so everything seem to be going south

Now desperately need to find a way to stop lipstick bleeding - giving up smoking is not an option....

Thanks for the help. Wish I had found this site ages go!

I'm sure I read somewhere that you should try a lip stain when your lips are 'mature'. It stops the bleeding and gives a matter colour that makes them look a bit fuller. Anything shiny will just make them look thinner. Stains also last longer and are easy to apply once you get the knack.

You get them in little pots that look like lip balm and can just use a cland finger.

https://www.elementalbeauty.co.uk/ is the link for the foundation.

My thanks indeed! Love the 'mature' bit!!

What are these lip things called and any ideas of how I can get on line? That is the only option for me at the moment.

Two eye shadows came from Bare Faced Beauty - they are Pure Minerals ones.

I so wish I had found this site earlier - it would have saved me a lot of money!

I posted a question about The Lift but have not had any responses yet! I guess most here are younger - LoL

    Hi Itsjustme

I tried the "lift". I was very disappointed, no noticeable difference tbh. Very expensive mistake.

I make a lot of my own cosmetics (I trained as a beauty therapist). I am 57 and have sensitive skin, so I do have to take care with what I use.

    Try this natural face lift.

2 teaspoons of gram (also known as chickpea flour). (Sainsbury's).
    2 teaspoons of water
    1/2 teraspoon runny honey.

Mix to paste, apply to face avoiding eye area and lips. Leave for 15 minutes. Rinse off.

    This is also good

Mix 6 few drops of frankinsence (natural oil - try Boots) with about 10ml of grapeseed oil (any supermarket). Use at night. WARNING DO NOT USE NEAT ESSENTIAL OIL - IT ABSOLUTELY MUST BE DILUTED. You could also add neroli oil - again 6 drops to the mix - smells lovely and is great for mature skin.

I also use Bio Oil - about a tenner but lasts ages. Again best used at night.

If you can afford it - Imedeen tablets are good but you do need to take them for several months before you see any effect. Regretably I can't afford them.

I have been using "Siana" creams from ALDI (£1-99) The night cream contains retinol and Q10 and the day cream contains Q10. These are exactly the same ingredients found in some very expensive creams. Do not be tempted to use the night cream during the day because retinol can react with sunlight.

Drink plenty of water to plump up the skin. Eat salmon regularly and if you like them avocados. Taking Evening Primrose Oil capsules also helps dry mature skin - again you'll need to allow about 3 months to notice any difference.

    Good luck.

A lip stain??? You can get them from almost anywhere, boots for one. Google brings up loads. Or try a sheer lipstick. Just so long as it's not too dark, wet or shiny. And remember to moisturise them lots!

    I'm only 27 so can't really advise!

But I do actually have bio-oil on my face right now! :T Works great. Apply right after a bath or shower at night time (only a few drops or your face is still greasy the next day) It's easier if you face is still slightly wet.

Honey, I LOVE honey!! For a really deep treat in the bath I use a gentle face wash, then mix some caster sugar in clear honey and use as a scub then leave it on for as long as I feel like like a face mask. Then I use some bio-oil. It makes a huge difference, but as I have oily skin I only use bio-oil every now and again.
  • Hi
Lily Lolo have stopped doing eyeshadow samples they said it is to expensive now .I suppose it is very fiddly and time consuming. It is a great pity.
Have just started using there make up and find it is great for my skin
Iam nearing my 60 and skin is looking good with this.
  • Hello,

I've been using Sheer Cover for about 2 or 3 years NOW and I'm NEVER going back to anything else! It's money well spent. I called the TV shop to order my first lot and this one was the mini products of 1.5 g, plus brushes, highlighter etc, then the next ones were large ones of 4g each+ cleanser and moisturiser. When I thought it was getting too expensive, it took one call to cancel next orders, but I definitely have to purchase more! I have terrible pigmentation marks on my cheeks and when I use an ordinary foundation (Clinique, Loreal), people ask me "what's happended to your face? has someone punched you?", whereas when I have sheer cover on, my face looks luminous and even! And you can't see the dreaded face/ neck line, as when using foundation.I swear by that product. I once purchased Loreal mineral one and chucked it out. I know it seems like a lot of money, but it lasts MONTHS before you have to purchase your next lot. I do also believe that this one is a 100% natural product, the brushes are definitely from natural bristles. You will not regret.
Ps: I am using the medium shade, my skin has a reddish tone, but used to tan easily (that's before I got the pigmentation marks and avoid the sun now). I hope that helps.
