Having just read zoo's reply I checked whether they'd actually taken my valuation money yet and noticed a £20 deduction from 7th. I got all excited then I realised I used a post office cash machine at the weekend. Edit - valuation money was taken directly when I gave the details on the tuesday morning (1st July).

No updates here. Not rang this week yet, but given your reply above lk92k, I'm not expecting anything positive.

Got home from work this evening and had a missed call and voice mail from the Post Office requesting to be called back. Within half an hour from the missed call I had a text that said my application has been assessed and the processing requirements have been sent out in the post and also that the valuation has been instructed. Things are finally moving...

We are in the process of a full application with the PO.

-We applied on Sunday 22nd June and it was referred for AIP.
-Got a phone call on Monday 23rd to approve. It was referred as we had added additional notes - We were confused with the form on dependants, so listed 1 for my and 1 for my partner and then added in the notes that the dependant is our son. Passed fine.
-Completed full application on the evening of 23rd.
-Was contacted on 2nd July by PO to confirm details
-Received posted letter requesting just 3 months wage slips on 3rd July
-Solicitors were instructed and necessary docs sent yesterday 7th.
-Valuation was instructed on Friday 4th and completed Today, 8th

PO Website shows us as "App Received" still.

Now anxiously waiting a response from Post Office (Bank of Ireland) and the Valuation report.

We opted for the 5yr fixed, £1495 fee and £470 homebuyer survey.

did the post office contact you straight away from your application zoology dragon?

No but we haven't applied direct, we're using a broker.

This is what we've gone for, with a 15% deposit.

We opted to have the fees added onto the mortgage and we'll be repaying them immediately as we get them back through my husband's relocation expenses.

Although you will be repaying them immediately, it still will increase the total mortgage amount I believe.

We opted to pay them on completion, rather than have the mortgage amount increase.

I've just called the Post Office regarding our Application. All our documents have been received, however they are working on a backlog from 2nd July right now.
If they are effectively a week behind, I'm no longer expecting to hear anything until next week now. :/

  • lk92k, I think I'm at the exacted stage you where at. I completed my full app on the 30/06/14, got the "APPLICATION RECEIVED" texted on the 3rd of July. And I still haven't had any updates! I'm really afraid the Seller of the property I've been accepted for may lose interest... Very stressed!

Well yes obviously but if we pay it off immediately there will be no (or very little) interest on it so it's not really any different to paying it upfront. It raises the monthly payment by about £1 but paying it off immediately reduces the term so it balances.
  • And yes, our broker told us today that the PO are about a week behind so haven't even looked at our documents yet.
