  • We have to move, my husband is starting a new job in just over a week, we'll be buying this house one way or the other but in the meantime he'll have to commute from my mum's (thank goodness he has that option) while everything we own sits in storage. This is going to cost us a fortune.
  • Good luck and hope things hurry up.

We are lucky that we don't - live 2.5 miles from work and new house is 1.5 miles.

I was commuting 500 miles a week until May.
  • Ouch, yes my husband currently has a five hour daily round trip - not fun!
  • I'm about to withdraw my offer on a flat for which I've got an application with the PO for the mortgage. This is due to what I've discovered during the conveyancing for service charges.

My question is this, as the mortgage application basically consists of two parts, one being the details of the borrower the the second being the details of the property. Is it possible to halt/save_game on an application then once I've found another property then restart the application with a fresh run of the property accessment?

Hope this makes sense, it just seems odd to have to do a full application all again, when the PO have already got a measure of my finances. I fully understand that I'd have to pay some fee's like valuation again.

I asked this question yesterday and was told it's a fresh application. So if ours falls apart we'll abandon full stop.
  • If you have to make a fresh application I would suggest choosing another lender!

I'll second that as 7 weeks on we're still waiting they keep saying ring tomo, and I do and it's the same everyday. They know we're supposed to be moving next week and still no offer

7 weeks??! Mmm that's 35 days and yet I've been told circa 40+ :( which is 8-9 weeks.

So they accepted business from the broker market, but didn't think to hire more stuff or check their internal processes :(

Nothing changes with PO, hate them when they were a public org, hate them now as a private.
  • We're going to be making a formal complaint if we have no news by the end of the day. We were also supposed to be moving next week, not a chance now.

I assume at Post Office and not L&C?
