good on you OP for sticking to your principles. if more people complained when they encountered crap service then perhaps the service wouldn't be that crap

Find out who Millies employ (if at all) to do their mystery shopping, apply for the assignment at that outlet and get paid to get your revenge.:rotfl:

Seriously though, I don't think it is unreasonable to complain about such an attitude and it is certainly not unreasonable to expect a response of some kind to a web complaint - even if it was only a "We take you complaint seriously and will look in to it".

I know OP isn't after compensation just an acknowledgement but you'd have thought that any company worth their salt would be horrified and send a voucher for a coffee and a cookie as a goodwill gesture - if nothing else, it would hopefully get the complainant back to the shop with hopefully better service next time. It wouldn't really cost the company a huge amount but all this bad mouthing is potentially causing loads of damage to their business.

the term "troll" should be retired, all it seems to mean these days is someone that doesn't agree with your point of view. One of the classic traits of a troll(in the original sense) was that they were trying tog et a rise from someone but no-one who's been accused of being a troll on here seems to be guilty of this, their only crime, siding with someone other than the OP.

You didn't get good service(you didn't really get service at all) she doesn;t appear to have been the politest person in the world but since when has the word "what?" which is generally used to convey that you haven't understood something or wish for it to be repeated, been rude? To be honest she seems only to have been countering your sarcastic "is anyone serving around here?"

I'd bet a dollar the way the girl sees it is that a customer appeared, was clearly not going to order yet(the way people stand when deciding what to get makes it very obvious) then suddenly decided she wanted served, which she didn't realise and was thne met by a sarcastic comment. If you really think it's worth the complaint then the best advice is to go by post though as emails to most companies get ignored.

Did you actually say anything to the person serving you about how you found her attitude, aside from the sarcastic comment? You might have got the situation sorted out there and then if you had. Just walking out afterwards gives neither side a chance to reach a satisfactory conclusion.

It's sounds to me that the OP was too taken aback at the rudeness of the assistant to then want to negotiate what a satisfactory conclusion should be.

Whether one has worked in a shop or not, I'm sorry - that's not acceptable behaviour towards a customer. Any job where you deal with the public, then there are certain standards to meet. If an accountant couldn't add up, then everyone would rightly say they were no good at their job. Same applies to customer-contact jobs.

The assisstant was probably hating her job, bored and being paid a pittance (I'm sure many people can relate to that!). If nothing else, if enough people write to a company when poor customer service is received, then maybe the company will look more at staff training, benefits, pay structures and retention policies. I maybe hopelessly niave, but I reckon happy staff meen happy customers.

Wow Bamber, Im glad you dont work in the service industry! The correct turn of phrase would have been:

"Can I help you madam?" or "Yes please". Not "WHAT" barked at the OP. Its completely unnaceptable whichever way you dress it up.

Basic manners cost nothing. The OP is paying this ignorant young womans wages and therefore deserves to be treated with some respect.

You get what you give. She doesn't pay her wages in the lsightest, this is the first time she'd ever been to Millie's cookies, she didn't make a purchase anyway so enough of that, and even if she was "paying her wages" the person serving is only human and shouldn't feel sorry in the slightest for responfing to a sarcastic remark.

Again, the word what isn't offensive, it's hardly rude, people are jsut caught up in a ridiculous notion that evreything should be cotton padded and polite. Most people, when it comes down to it(although they'll claim th eopposite to win an argument or kick up a fuss) don't really give a damn about the tone of a cashier or the words they say, the cookies will still taste jsut the same and still cost the same price whether they're picked up and handed to the customer without a word being said to them, picked up and handed to them under a barrage of swear words, or picked up and handed to them whilst saying "thank you for shopping here, i love you, please shop here again"

I'll probably be told i'm daft for accepting bad service now but the reality is i'm just not petty enough to give a damn as i shop for products that i want not the service, at the end of the day the products will be the same.

I used to work in retail sales. I'd turn my back on someone who I thought gave the slightest hint that they were whinging ol' so and so's.

Sometimes the look of someone is enough to put me off.

Much ado about nothing me thinks about Millies Cookies.
