Morning all,
Yesterday was another SFD - I didn't get a chance to stop at petrol station and didn't want to go out of my way so liquid gold will be purchased today.
I'm on leave tomorrow and going to the beach with my family. It supposed to be a wet miserable day..typical ..which probably means more money spent in doors. Hopefully the sun will pop its wee head out for a bit and keep the costs down.

I once went to a wedding where the cheapest thing on the guest list (I kid you not, this was a spoon) was £15.50. I thought at the time that if I got married, I would just say please don't buy me anything! I know that's an extreme example, but honestly! Spend day yesterday which I'm annoyed about; gave in to chocolate. Hoping to have non spend day today, also need to run some errands at lunch so I won't be distracted by the chocolate box.Proud to be debt free September 2014. :j

Hello everyone,
Hope all is good with everyone and you've had some sleep Thrifty!
NSD for me yesterday - long day in work so really not much else to do than eat quickly and go to bed when i got in at 9pm - great for the money saving! Finishing at 12 today, so planning to get home and give the kitchen floor a good clean, builders were in doing some finishing yesterday so just waiting for some final electrics and I can hopefully start painting!
Lilt - hooray for new oven! when we moven in the oven was included in the kitchen, and it has a light - like you I hadn't had one for a while due to old broken ovens in places we were renting, it is strangely satisfying to be able to see your food as it cooks!
abundant - I love the use of the penny jar!
speakingofart :eek:for the spoon! It must have been very special!
Aiming for another NSD today, slowly getting there.
Take care all.

My journey was about 18 months in total with just under 12 months left to go. I know it feels like a massive undertaking at the start but you have to get your head out of the sand and deal with it at some point or it will just get worse. 95% of the time I enjoy this new feeling of being in control of my money rather than watching it slip through my fingers, the other 5% of the time is spent resenting the whole situation and blaming everyone but me:rotfl:
I am getting my grocery delivery today so money will be exchanging hands. I have been for a run before the weather gets too hot, it was still mighty hot though, I will cycle this evening and will dog walk too but nothing too strenuous on the dog walking front for his sake.
Went to the cubs BBQ last night and they weren't taking subs so that was £2 saved, we had a lovely time with the kids playing games on the field and the parents having a chinwag.
Enjoy the heat folks.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

When me and DH got married we had already lived together for 5 years, we just had a registry office wedding with a family meal after. I never asked for a single gift but did receive some as some people genuinely wanted to buy us something, plus we were quite poor and didn't have much and I think they felt sorry for us. The point is though I wanted to be married to DH and that was all I wanted.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Good afternoon everybody...
Crazy morning in NSK towers.... went for a cycle last night with a friend. Wasn't expecting to be out for more than 2-3 hours... We left at 1730 and got back to my house at 2330. It was the same 26 miles route that I did on my own a few weeks back. Neither of us had lights on our bikes. It made for a memorable experience and we got home in one piece. I swear if that route wasn't paved in white concrete we'd have been done for. Had to keep stopping for my friend though as he wasn't quite used to his bike saddle if you know what I mean...
Then this morning I have been looking after a colleague who saw the tail end of a mugging this morning - apparently a man tried to intervene when he saw 4 kids stealing a push bike and got their bolt croppers wrapped round his head. Amazing how much blood was there.. I saw it too but I am well hard I am...(the man is ok by the way, 2 inch gash to his head but otherwise fine)..
Anyway - settling in to work and gonna read all your posts...
More from me later..

I get the feeling you are all outside sunning yourself. Please buy yourself an ice lolly as a treat. I already have....;- )“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. What an experience NSK, scary.
Another spend day. Got enough now to last till hubby comes back next Thu (he leaves Mo for a conference). Also got to new waterpistols for me and DS (bargain at 70p each) and a bigger paddling pool reduced to a tenner. So after a boring, annoying where I wished I could be at work instead too morning, we had great fun in the garden in the afternoon. We were meant to go to a crafting event from the V&A but will go on Monday instead.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Wow to your bike ride NSK and OMG to the mugging! Poor man
Still undecided as to what to do for this wedding present. Might check what others are doing, maybe we could club together and ignore the no present rule.
Today is SFD number 6. And I had a lovely surprise last night as it got paid for some extra work I did, but I thought I had already been paid for it. Turns out the first payment only covered a one section of the workI'm toying between paying it all off the debt or allowing myself a new pair of trainers and then using the rest for debt payments.
I'm also trying to figure out how I can earn some extra money over the 6 week holidays. So far this year I have suplimented my income by selling on eB4y, temping over Christmas, tutoring and exam marking, but it seems I don't have any money making opportunities for these hols. I will have to have a very lean summer at this rate as I need to renew my passport.
Hope you've all had a lovely dayLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Gosh what a lovely day! It makes money saving and debt busting so much easier when the sun is shining...
Been for an hour's bike ride (nothing on your epic Kat!) and checking in a SFD. New totals below.
ByeBye I know it sounds bleak when you first work out a DFD but they do help and it becomes an obsession to tick the months off and watch the debt come down! Don't give up. We've just had to move our DFD back from this October to next June (ouch!) due to losing three months of repayments with family disasters and now having to factor in car repayments. This did make me and DH feel really down initially, but we have picked ourselves back up and are focused and fighting fit again! Please don't get too down about it. Also, the other option is just never being DF which is even more depressing!
