Abundant - When I had cats they used to get fleas most summers, if you have them in your carpets they will hatch and go back onto the cat as it moves around your home, if you put a flea collar on the cat (we used to buy a plasticy/rubbery type one from the Bob Martin range) that will kill them off as will using Frontline spray. You need something that will stay on/in the cat to keep killing the new fleas until you get rid.

crazy_lady - hope the weather is kind for your camping trip.

Today is a spend day, Sainsburys are delivering my grocery shop and I have already been to Tesco for the bits I won't buy at Sains, I can't pay 20p more for a cucumber and also Tesco have nectarines, apricots and plum punnets for 75p so I got one of each, our fruit bowl is overflowing.

I haven't done a Tesco online shop for ages so they have sent an e-voucher for £7.50 off a £75 shop so I will use that for next weeks shop along with a load of vouchers I have from them.

Today is a well earned day off exercise apart from 40 minutes school run and 45 minutes dog walking, I have stripped all the beds and have one load in the wash which will hopefully dry outside, then I will be working all afternoon and running up a batch of pizza dough for pizza night tonight.

I have 5 items listed on ebay and despite being nice things they are getting hardly any views and no watchers, I think the nice weather keeps people away from the computer, anyway due to the new listing rules I started them at a price I am happy to sell them for so if they only get one bid that's fine.

    Happy Friday all!:j

Shyspender - thanks for the recipe, that sounds really tasty, will try and give it a go.

Thriftylass - it is strange you saying about the gooseberries, we got a bush for the allotment last year, only got a handful of berries, but they were red, and I was thinking it was maybe the first crop, but this year red again, I was wondering what I'd done that they weren't green! :rotfl:Maybe they are this red type you mention? Do you use them in the same way as the green gooseberries, I usually cook them or make jam?

moomin - that grocery shop is amazing, I don't know how you do it!:T

CrazyLady - what a great way to do the festival, it just shows how you can save if you think round things!

Abundant and cottage_retreatist  for the fleas, hope it is sorted soon.

Yesterday wasn't a SFD in the end as bought some raffletickets a colleague was selling for charity, a good cause, but I may have to declare them as an illegal spend! Petrol today, filled up as we are driving 300 miles tomorrow, can't believe the cost. No TV at all this week so far, but may catch up on a bit of celeb masterchef this evening as OH is in late. I probably won't get a chance to check in until sunday, maybe monday as away, so hope everyone has a good weekend.

I went cold turkey on the hairwashing, but as I only need to wash it twice a week, it's only seen one dose so far! I did get the proportions wrong first time around, so had to do it again, and it then worked really well. To wash: 1 TBLSP bicarb in about 200 mil water. Rub it in well. First time, I wet my hair first, second time it was still damp, so not sure if nec. To condition: 1 TBLSP acv in 200 mil water again. Rub it in well again and rinse.

I think I'll need to leave the acv mix in longer next time.

Given that I'm still washing my face in cold kitchen tap water, moisturising with evoo, and using a homemade salt + oil scrub, I feel pretty chemical free!

I love this entry. I wash my face with soap but still have oddles of cheap trash that I use. I got a bottle of ACV yesterday that is actually raw which is the best stuff so am using that on my spots...(groan).. marked difference over night though as I am using it undiluted.

Will be giving the shampoo / conditioner a go tonight though. My hair is way passed my bra strap so can't get away with no conditioner so it will be interested to see what the ACV does.

Anyone ever do the egg conditioner treatment and wash it out with warm water instead of cold and end up with scrambled egg in your hair..? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:... I only did it once mind you!

I am tempted by Dr Bronner to take on my travels. Can be used 18 different ways and is organic - the peppermint flavour can apparently be used as toothpaste as well....

It's a dream to be chemical free. I am going to box up my toiletries tonight and try to be a little less dependent on them for a few days...

Olive oil on the skin is amazing but you do that already don't you AM..?
Small grained sea salt and a little oil for a foot scrub..

Honestly I could go on and on... Thanks AM for bringing this us!!!

MagicCat I just eat them like grapes or rasberries, raw. But in Germany the red ones are sweet enough to do that. Will have to see what they are like here, otherwise jam or gooseberry cake.

    Checking in for day 4.

I did a massive Morri shop today and spent £100, should have been £115 thanks to the voucher in the paper. I got my mums and sisters as they don't go to Morri's. I swear there were some people in there with 15 vouchers! I don't have the patience for that but also where would you keep that much fruit and veg???

We're off to the cinema tomorrow as part of my little ones birthday (last month), but I paid for the tickets in June and used a £10 voucher so got it cheaper, and I have snacks to take.

    Good afternoon.
    :)

Spend-free day number 3 today (hopefully).
    :j

I will be breaking the TV rule today and tomorrow. Sorry but the tv is showing highlights of the festival we go to and we want to watch it to relive those memories.
    :o

We are heading up to the coast for the weekend today. Hooray for a weekend off!!!!
    :T

Unfortunately, other than that my life is a bit dull. No hijinks or anything like that.

Although I did learn something very interesting. Everyone should get a Power of Attorney done as it only comes into being when you are unable to make decisions for yourself (has to be assessed by a qualified doctor as being incapacitated) and costs about £300.
The reason why it is good to do it now rather than later is because if you have become unable to make decisions and you don't have a power of attorney, then your family has to go for guardianship which costs approx £3000!!!!!! Ten times more expensive.
Trying to convince my parents that it is a good idea... and promising not to put them in a home straight away.
    :rotfl:

Anyways, just thought I would inform anyone in case they were interested.

    Happy American Independence Day Everyone.
    Hugs.

Sorry for the lack of exciting updates from my life, the problem is there is no excitement... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Day 4 of cycling is almost complete and I am quite proud of myself with only another 19 working days to do this. I WILL SURVIVE.

However coming home last night at 2200 on the roads without any proper lights to speak of was a little silly. I peddled faster in order to get home quicker. nearly died.

Overtime this weekend - Saturday night (2300-0700) and Sunday late (1500-2300), then back to work Monday (0700-1500) - gonna kill me but all for the greater good yes?>

Got one more OT session on the 13th - a whole 11.5 hours (double time) but will have to wait to see if I got the other three I have applied for...

See you all tonight - I shall also be doing some spreadsheetary fun!

    Onwards and Upwards!!!
