For anyone interested, there's apparently a voucher in the Sun today for £5 of free fruit/veg at Morrisons. No idea how long it's valid for, but it's not to be sniffed at!

I'll be grabbing the paper on the way to work so I'll update you on valid dates etc once I know.

    Morning all

Hi NSK - hump day is Wed because you are half way through the working week and heading towards the weekend (tried to downsize picture but as you can see not so great at it:D). When I was looking for a picture I found other interpretations of what it means:o:o

I was so close to home with all my pennies still in my purse when I was foiled by a text from my Mum for milk and bread -£2.21 but at least I didn't spend anything else. I didn't manage the exercise but have printed a 10k training plan which I will start Sat morning.

    Morning beautiful people...

I am SO not in the mood for work today! :rotfl:Got up this morning to more sunshine and sailed down to the train station wondering if the ache in my legs (and the heaviness) will ever let me go faster. I am a little sleepy I won't lie but need to get some weight-training sessions in and right now over my first two days of cycling I have missed them - and tonight it dedicated to an essential dinner - budgeted for with a friend I haven't seen since 2009??..

So a leaving drink straight after work for a lovely lady in my office so I really have no excuse to miss it, then on to dinner, then a cycle home later later tonight to be faced with another early start...

    Yikes!

MagicCat I might inbox you later today...

    Lilt
is Jellytot lactose intolerant or are you a veganess as well..?

Munchin we are on the home straight...; -)

Mooomin I am going to get the paper today as soon as I hear whats what from you...Thats 5 packets of 4 avocados.. That would keep me going for a bit!

Thrify I am gonna check out this Jillian Micheals person.. although really can't even find time for my Louise Soloman yogalates.. I love her.

CEW - I am very excited about your chickens! Why not sell them to neighbours? My neighbour back home sell theirs and they are the only ones I eat because I know the chickens are happy...Well done on your walk though!

TiptoesDB - your Daddy Bear is at rest now. It must have been an awful shock for you all but as you said there was minimal suffering for him. I am all for the financial security - that's a very important lesson your Dad left for you - a clear indicator of the man he was. Rather clever.

The car however clearly couldn't be avoided - better safe than sorry if his journey is that epic. I would count it as separate though - it's technically an unavoidable purchase... and it's for business as well! Even better that it's interest free!!!

    Crazy_Lady2009
    - you're in! Anyone else I have forgotten to number please shout out...........

Ok more from me later I really must make headway with the work I have been given. Forgive me if I am not on again today but I will try!

    Onwards and Upwards!!!

    Hello everyone!

A bit more time today, so able to really read what everyone has been saying.

Applemuncher - the bicarb/cider vinegar hair wash sounds amazing. Do you mind if I ask what it's like afterwards - do you find it feels and smells different from ordinary shampoo? And where do you get the bicarb/cider apple vinegar - would it be just a little pot of bicarb from a supermarket? Would love to try it, as I have long hair and always worry about all the chemicals in shampoo. Your holiday sounds lovely btw!

Abundant - like everyone else, I think cutting up the credit cards is very brave! :money:I'm not sure I could do it though - worried something would come up and I'd be stuck.

Tiptoes - it must be really hard to keep focussed, I think you are doing great. I understand what you mean about the car loan, I think of my student loan in the same way - no interest and deducted each month - so it's not quite as stressful.

CEW - glad walk went well.

Moomin - thanks for info on voucher, let us know if it's any good.

So as for me, nothing very exciting - should be an NSD today, but will need petrol today or tomorrow (depends when light comes on!). Gym again this morning. Am going to weigh tomorrow, hoping for an improvement on last week, but even if I haven't gained any that will be better I suppose, especially as it is a bad time of the month to weigh.

Just found this thread - it is just what I need.
Can I join in please - we are not in debt but have to watch every penny to stay that way.
I think I have read that book you were mentioning as my daughter bought me a paperback a couple of years ago along the same lines.

SFD:- Most of our bills go out as STO's (fuel, co tax, ins etc) so I'm not going to count those days, therefore can I put the SFD to 24, which leaves me with one large online spend at the supermarket per month plus a weekly top up.

Reducing my grocery spend by £20 per week:- Already on that trail.

Cancel going out:- What a good idea - yep

Exercise:- Bit dodgy this one, I started to walk again at the end of last year after 3yrs of having to use 2 crutches even around the house. So I'll give hard exercise a miss but I move around most of the day, I look after all my hens (250), help with several horses, 3 alpacas, and have started to grow all my own fruit and vegetables again. I'm getting more mobile month by month, so this category could be an interesting one for me.

TV - agree. We watch the lunchtime news and watch TV whilst having tea. I tend to carry on watching whilst my DH gets on the computer. I suppose I could spend that time decluttering and selling on eBay. So there is my aim for this month - get organised and sell.

England and Wales - £5 of free fruit and veg, no minimum spend. Exclusions are frozen veg and things from the salad bar.

Scotland - £5 off a £10 spend on meat and fish. Looks like it's pre-packed and butcher's stuff, but I can't sit and read the paper at work :D I'm going to get two more and stock up on meat for the rest of the month.

    The paper is 40p.

Shyspender - could you post your lentil soup recipe?

PhoeniX - well done on the cycling, great for your fitness, your money saving and the environment, win, win all round.

Tiptoes - you have done very well to stay on track at all. Shame you had to spend so much on a car but it can't be helped and getting it interest free is a huge bonus.

    Zafiro - 250 hens, wow.

DD's guitar exam went well yesterday, she has to wait 2 weeks for the results now, very proud of her, this was her first ever exam for anything and she wasn't nervous at all.

The sun has gone away today and it looks like rain, I will still get out with the dog inbetween working though. I have done an hour in the gym straight after the school run.

moomin - thanks for the voucher info, I don't shop in Morrisons, the nearest one is in a really horrible area and there aren't any more nearby. They are doing so many offers at the moment I didn't think it would be long before they started giving stuff away, Morrisons started up in my neck of the woods and they are really struggling at the moment - they just keep getting it wrong.

Thanks moomin, just got my copy of The Sun and £5 voucher :) loving that it's valid until Sunday so perfect timing for the weekly shop.

Today has now been a spend day due to the voucher costing 40p but think it's worth it :)

No exercise but I am also getting a free dinner for supervising a school event, plus it'll stop me watching tv :)

Applemuncher - your holiday sounds awesome :) I read up on the Bicarb and ACV for hair a while ago but haven't been brave enough as I am looking to reduce the chemicals I use. Have you gone cold turkey? I am a little worried about trying it as I wash my hair most days, its really fine so you can see if its dirty and its more obvious because I'm fair... think I need to just bite the bullet and give it a go as I am hoping to stop needing either and going 100% natural, its just the inbetween phase as I work in a customer facing professional role so need to look clean :D

Thought I had blight so was worried about all my tomato plants but seem to be ok and first little fruits appearing so soon all salad will be from the garden :)

Didn't manage a check in yesterday but have cleared the CC and today is my first SFD.

Hope you are all enjoying the lovely sunshine :)
