    £1000s on pokemon cards.

Could be worse, I know of people who spend £1000's on In-App purchases in 'free' Facebook or iPad games.

I put a passlock on my phone, as well as one on the ipad. The very first thing I did when Amazon took over LoveFilm was to add a passlock to restrict purchases to that as well. I cant understand people who let their kids run up costs on their gadgets and then complain about it.

Pretty much everything in my house could be classed as stupid purchase , as I am not in it often enough to use it :-) I am slowly reforming though.

The stupidest item I ever got was a pair of Big white plastic BBerry sunglasses that I never wore.
    CC consolidated to £3400
    Loan[STRIKE] £12770[/STRIKE] £7150
    Mortgage :(

£1300 on a big TV with surround sound and everything to go with it... That would have paid off most of the overdraft!

Also not really a purchase, but prior to having kids we lived above the bar that oh worked in, we were both working full time on decent wages and were only paying £300 a month rent and no bills! Why oh why didn't we pay off the overdrafts and start saving money!? Instead we spent it all every month and all we have left to show for it is a few bits of furniture!
    Debt FREE thanks to YNAB

As well as gambling I once also spent £700 on a pair of designer dungarees which were day glo orange and yellow (this was before the days of debt lol).

Once, I thought I looked ace (this was the 90's) and went out in them coupled with purple flame cowboy boots, big flouncy pirate shirt and a red and black striped bandanna...

I can still hear the sniggers to this day! I still have the boots and bandanna somewhere I think :)

£15000 on a degree, then ended up doing the same thing for a living as I probably would have anyway.

Upside was, it wasn't £15000 of my money, and there's slim chance of the SLC ever seeing it again :)
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?
