When I studied history at school we weren't allowed to study WW2 as it was seen as too recent and they didn't want to offend the Germans!lostinrates wrote: »Duvet is a change. In spring we 'splashed out' on a silk duvet. Its the nicest thing I've slept under. Very different from best Down, and not quite as light and cloudy ( but cheaper) and it does something else remarkable, it drapes around the body so draughts don't get in.
The light weight one is really light, like a sheet, never coped in summer under something so light, the two ( all seasons) to gather feel noticeable, but warm, really warm, quickly.
The aesthetic is odd, neater more blanket like than normal, but not perfectly so, but mean compared to normal duvets. I think its something one has to get used to.
Cats stay warm all night.
Electric blankets still rule.
Mum has shifted from down to silk. She has polymyalgia and following the double breast procedure can only sleep on her back, so sleep can be painful. She loves her silk one, very much for the same reasons as you. My parents house is old and draughty and says it helps immensely. She likes the big soft fleecy blankets too. Normally she very much goes for natural materials, but the softness and warmth of those (especially when made into a gown or slippers) helps too.And from me!
That'll be my next significant birthday (not for a few years though):D
He, he... me too.
Happy birthday Trev! As much as I'd like to say that a place owned by VivaT trust is my ancestral home, that would be a massive fib. Looks wonderful, you know how to celebrate in style. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I did stairs today. Hoping to go home weds. I am caught in an nhs boundary post code lottery for rehab at home and hosp want a bit more assurance before I will be discharged. To minimise long term disability. I can walk about 50 metres.but gait is odd. Arm/ hand has some movement but cannot do anything functional . Speech and reasoning good . Continent( another blessing) mouth a little down so I am in quite good shape and feel very lucky.

Not peeing yourself is the first thing; not dribbling is second. After that, a bit of a wonky walk's no problem!
What'd they do if you lived alone? Would you be propped up in a chair with a random face appearing 3x a day to get you up, microwave a dinner, put you to bed?0 -
Nice one spirit!
Happy birthday to trev too.0 -

Why are chip shop chips always soft and mushy, not crisp? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
