I've just started to manage cycling all the way up all but 1 of the steep long hills.
I am enjoying it - ask me again when it's raining though!
If there's a little more jelly than lemon then this will fix it. You're already doing about 30 miles a week, I reckon I did about 100 miles a week last year and that made me pretty damn fit, my resting heart rate was starting to fall and was about 65-68, not bad for a 43 year old. 200 miles a week puts you into a pretty elite category of amateur riders. Just to give you an idea if you start getting into it.
Cycling to work is really good money saving because it's cheaper than driving/the bus and it builds exercise into your life so you don't need a gym membership either.
However, it's not free.
I used to reckon to spend about half of my transport savings on cycling although when Mrs Generali is earning a bit more and I'm back to riding I'll look to make it cost neutral: decent waterproofs, good lights, proper (although not expensive) cycling clothes make things far more comfortable and make riding in all but the worst of weather ok if not actually a joy.
If you are going to carry stuff on your bike I would very, very strongly recommend Ortlieb panniers. They look expensive but they are amazing: they last ages and ages and are actually waterproof. I have ridden through a river using these and everything stayed dry. The only time my stuff has gotten wet when using them is the time I didn't do the top up:rotfl:0 -

Gutted. I love moules marinieres. It's one of my absolute favourite dishes. Nom, nom, nom, nom, nom.
It's so good that a vegetarian friend of mine used to help me mop up the juices after I'd finished eating it. I could eat a bacon sandwich in front of him without a single flinch but moules? Ha!
Mussels over here seem to be a bit patchy WRT freshness. I'll have some on my wintery visit to England though.0 -
I often make leak soup from the left over juices gen. Its not quite a tradition, but almost.

I'd be up on my chair waiting for someone to rescue me.
PN - although the problem may seem to have 'got worse' today, it hasn't - it's a major leap closer to getting better. And you've played a pivotal role in that by getting people talking together about it and realising their relatively little separate problems are part of a bigger picture. Well done you.
Many happy returns to today's birthday boys! Hope you both have lovely days _party_0 -
