A typical conversation when I worked in St James (full of the richnfamous) would go like this:

    Did you see that?
    Dunno, what?
    It's him!
    Who?
    Him!
    Who's he?
Dave McFamous, the famous bloke from 'Five Blokes Called Dave'
    Who?
    **sigh**

Day off today. (This year Thursday's my day off every week.)

I was going to go shopping for clothes. Maybe I will later.

For now I have got to sit very quietly in front of the piano to see if the hamster will come out from behind it.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

25] On June 13, 2013, in Association for Molecular Pathology v. Myriad Genetics (No. 12-398), the US Supreme Court unanimously ruled that, "A naturally occurring DNA segment is a product of nature and not patent eligible merely because it has been isolated," invalidating Myriad's patents on the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. However, the Court also held that manipulation of a gene to create something not found in nature—such as a strand of synthetically-produced complementary DNA (cDNA)--could still be eligible for patent protection.[26][27]

From Wikipedia. That seems reasonable, naturally occurring genes can't be patented, but products artificially produced from them can be.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I don't cope very well with solitude. I think I will, but the reality is that I very quickly become rather aimless.

I'm sorry, Maggie, that you are having to cope with your illness. However, the way you are coping with it so cheerfully is something I admire tremendously. You really are wonderful.

Plus the photos are lovely. Please keep posting them.

Oh thank you GDB! Your very kind words reduced me to tears when I read them yesterday. :o:) I guess I'm fairly used to being solitary - was an only child. So until I went to school I was alone most of the time, other than mealtimes or shopping trips.

I don't cope with my illness particularly well, get very frustrated a lot of the time. Everything takes an age to do - eg at the lottie I have to have a chair to sit on to weed or plant, and drag it round with me. OH has to do all the watering as I can't walk as far as the tap. This morning I'm resting up in bed as we have an appointment with an estate agent to get our old home on the market. Will do yet more packing when we're there. But I do try and stay cheerful as much as possible, and having the internet makes a huge difference of course! :) Glad you like the photos! :j Should get more into the habit of taking them.
    Yes, it makes sense. :).

I've fought back from 'nothing' once and I'm really not willing to do it again so I'm really pushing boundaries now:D. I'm really. Really hopeful about surgery. Its not going to happen this year what ever now, gosh, when you think it looked all go ahead quickly in the beginning of summer :(. Funding also looks like its going to be an issue. But, we'll have to find it. :)

I can cook and feed dogs etc most days :) for which I am grateful because I know what its like not t0.

But my brain power is gone, huge tracts of mental ability. Some of the skills that made me 'me' are gone. Physically....pffft. As you know, I try not to give up, some days its harder some easier.

Its been a really improved summer physically and I am grateful. :). Long may it continue.

Glad you've had improvement over the summer. Here's hoping you continue to improve. Know what you mean about brainpower. :( I used to do crosswords, but have lost that ability - the words hide themselves, it's that "on the tip of my tongue" thing constantly. There's a word for it, but can't remember it! :rotfl:

Tiredness is still a big issue for him, he is horrendously fatigued and is having difficulty keeping going and keeping awake as the week goes on, so his sleeping pattern is completely up the swanney!

But he is still loving it....phew!

That's great news! I imagine tiredness will improve as time goes on and your son gets more accustomed to the new place. It sounds such a huge improvement over his last school! :)

I get ridiculously happy when I see a ship on the river! Just seen Acavus, a chemical tanker bound for Eastham passing, and there's another will go by soon - Stolt Kingfisher, chemical/oil tanker. If it doesn't stop at Bromborough that is! Just checked, and it's headed for Stanlow.

The Internet's brilliant for that isn't it - looking up what shipping's where and what's that plane flying over my head!

I am in two minds about the furries eating the grass/moss.... I could rake up/scoop off all the grass around the shed and lay down some gravel: buy tools, get round to it, buy gravel and ground plastic, get round to it.

I have tended towards "leave it for now, they'll be gone soon" .... and now thinking "do it now" ... but I'm also scared that if I do that, they might just chomp closer to the house!!

So it's in my head as what I'll do one day ... but there's no actual benefit to doing it now. It also represents "change" in their landscape and I need them to eat the poison, so I figure I should leave well alone for now as the change might make them disappear for a month.... which wouldn't help with killing them.

Certainly is! :j I missed Stolt Kingfisher while I was in the bath. Leander (yet another chemical/oil tanker) should come into view soon. But it's raining over on the Wirral and a bit misty over the river, so not sure if I'll see it.

My perfect house would have a view of "things moving" - it's nice to see things moving.... ships are good for that :)

This is beginning to sound like a Fawlty Towers episode!
When Basil is alerting Manuel, he notices that he is keeping a pet rat, having been conned into thinking that it's a Siberian hamster

'It's not a rat Mr Fawlty it's a hamster' :rotfl:
