That's really useful. I remember we discussed this before, and it was mentioned that dog's ancestors first appeared in places like Alaska or Yukon or thereabouts, and lightning's rarer the further you go from the equator. Maybe they've no inbuilt tolerance for it.

The only time mine looked up yesterday day was one strike which made me jump too, but which seemed to strike one of the farm buildings. Big dog did hop to her feet, and dog dog sat up. Kiwi was having his tummy rubbed, and opened his eyes and cocked and ear, probably because I jumped.

My cats were n't with us, but when I went upstairs and the lightening was still going they had quite obviously been asleep for a long time. Always on the side of the bed I like to get in.

Fir asks me to tell you this is not his work. Last night he met more Italians wanting bagels and he did not push cheese on them either.

That reminds me of the saying, "Eagles soar but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines".

    Congratulations to DD1 :T:T:T
Did you stay up all night watching the coverage of the vote counting for it? ;)

More importantly, is she celebrating whilst her opponents all get the hump?

While we're celebrating, this morning I have discovered that we are "Award Winning Builders". We've won a regional category in the Master Builder of the Year Awards :)

So we go through to the nationals next year, but Midlands Bathroom Renovation of the Year is pretty good :D

Have the opponants "accepted the decision of the people" and made the "pledge to work constructively for the good of the Union" I mean, house?

Ho ho. I confess I made a very unattractive snort noise when I read that.

Hopefully in a few days there'll be a little more magnanimity in victory and grace in defeat. For DD1 I mean, obvs.

We've got a lovely weekend ahead. Tomorrow it's Better Homes and Gardens show. BH&G is a TV show over here which is kinda like the lifestyle pages of the Saturday newspaper in a TV program. They have a cook, a cake baker, a vet, a man DIYer, a woman DIYer (more craft based) and a couple of gardeners. They advertise stuff and encourage you to sand your cake before growing tomatoes on it or something.

Sunday is The Girl's birthday party.

The weather is set fair if a little cool.

Did a bit of googling - and the lightning/boom I heard was a direct strike on the traffic lights round the corner .... which is a bit worrying as there was a direct lightning strike on premises 100 yards the other way just in April .... did I buy a house in Lightning Alley??

Brilliant, jolly well done you. A great marketing tool I hope.
