Well, you might not ... e.g. sockets upstairs could have been blown out... house certainly shook! And, it's what happens next that's the big fear.... dealing with it!

    I've never liked the responsibility/ownership part of house-dwelling :)

You are insured, so the downside of the storm is quite limited. Just get on with the groin thrusting and forget about the storm. Let your insurers do the worrying. And their reinsurers, and so on.

It stormed here at about 3AM. I got up because I thought I had left a window open on the top floor. It turned out I was wrong, so I could have stayed in bed, after all.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

GDB see article on bbc about iOS update:

Thanks. I'll do that, then. I had avoided iTunes as it is yet another piece of software that I don't need on my PC. But, I may have to give in.

On the plus side, maybe the furries have drowned?

They don't drown .... they swim very well. If in a cataclysmic situation .... see which direction they're fleeing as they're usually good at getting away from danger zones.

Easily said, but when one's "alone" in all aspects of realising, dealing with it, getting it sorted, decisions, stress.... just "you", nobody to discuss it with, nobody to give valid input/opinion ... just "you".... things can quickly become overwhelming. There'll be nobody to make a decision, no knight on a white horse.... just you, alone, despairing ... and not where you wish to be.

Can't remember if I've posted this link before; it's to a real-time lightning map

That's really useful. I remember we discussed this before, and it was mentioned that dog's ancestors first appeared in places like Alaska or Yukon or thereabouts, and lightning's rarer the further you go from the equator. Maybe they've no inbuilt tolerance for it.

I didn't even think about open windows yesterday, which in retrospect was really foolish.

    Congratulations to DD1 :T:T:T
Did you stay up all night watching the coverage of the vote counting for it? ;)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
