  • There was a crashing storm here at about 3am / 4am (I generally don't choose to look at a clock at that time, it doesn't make me feel any better to know I've been woken up at 4.16am instead of 3.42am).

The storm was storming away, and Kermie was sleeping peacefully, in true baby style - hands in chubby fists up by his head - in his nice warm sleeping bag and tucked in his cosy basket. I nearly poked him to see how he liked being woken up at that time, but thought it would be a rather hollow victory.

That's really useful. I remember we discussed this before, and it was mentioned that dog's ancestors first appeared in places like Alaska or Yukon or thereabouts, and lightning's rarer the further you go from the equator. Maybe they've no inbuilt tolerance for it.

All 3 of the border collies I've known well absolutely loathed lightening. The more highly- (over-) bred Cavalier King Charles we had before the collies wasn't remotely bothered. Cavaliers are a long way from wolf-dom, I reckon!

DD1 has been voted house captain at school :)

Oh well done that girl! :j Congratulations! (that's fizzy lemonade in those glasses as I'm guessing DD1 isn't old enough to hit the beer. ;) )

While we're celebrating, this morning I have discovered that we are "Award Winning Builders". We've won a regional category in the Master Builder of the Year Awards :)

So we go through to the nationals next year, but Midlands Bathroom Renovation of the Year is pretty good :D

That's fantastic DG! :j :T I'm sure it's very very well deserved, and I'm sure you'll do well at the nationals. Yay! :j

Sunday is The Girl's birthday party.

The weather is set fair if a little cool.

Hope the weather is kind, and Generalissima has a wonderful party and a great time with her friends. Do you do party games or is she too old for that now? Have to confess never liked kids party games when I was a kid, and wasn't too keen when our kids were still kids either. Glad to hear you're having a fun weekend - you deserve some fun. :)

That is the plan but you're the second people I've told after my client. She wants an award made to attach to the bathroom door!

I would want that too, if it were my bathroom. :D

Same here. Have fun with the party. Weather should be fair as what they've forecasted.

Hello mithcd. Are you human? If so, then welcome. :hello: Tell us about yourself - do you like mushrooms?
    Or are you a spambot?
If you're human, I apologise for doubting you, but we get quite a few of them round here, and they often have a very brief style of post, like yours.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Congratulations indeed :j:j :T:T
I thought it was obligatory for awards to go in or on the bathroom somehow ;):D

Applied for JSA. It turns out I get to apply for Universal Credit, which is exciting. People !!!!! about the new Universal Jobmatch thing but from what I can tell it looks pretty good; there's loads on there, and it links up with other recruiting sites like Reed. I've uploaded my CV and saved some jobs I can apply for. Not doing any tonight. I'll make sure I do a few before my first interview with them as I want to hit the ground running with it.

    Bit depressing really.

Indeed. Twozerdog is more cushion than wolf.

Had a great day today despite only getting 3 hours sleep.

I am very grateful that things worked out the way they have.

Thanks. I'll do that, then. I had avoided iTunes as it is yet another piece of software that I don't need on my PC. But, I may have to give in.

I hate having iTunes on my PC - but I am lazy. I suppose you could install it, upgrade your iOS and then uninstall iTunes.
