It's certainly a minority in my life. I have never been treated that way by anyone in my family, any of my friends, anyone at the churches I've belonged to, or any teachers etc that I've worked with. For me, that kind of behaviour belongs to strangers in pubs, 2nd hand car salesmen, and the like. But then I rather suspect that my lifestyle brings me into contact mainly with safer more respectful men than some other lifestyles might.

I think it happens less obviously, in safe, respectable appearing and behaving households, and very successful ones thinking about it, across classes. Though perhaps more obviously in certain economic brackets because of lack of subtlety? Education? Ability of so e sort, again, dunno, just .....I think I have seen it every where.

The only example I can give is far too graphic for here, so I won't.

I found one of my few boundaries, hurrah!

Men see him as a prat. Full stop.

Women see him as a prat, but worry that the next stage will be him following her out of the store. He already feels comfortable making a joke at her expense in ear shot, which is not acceptable behaviour. He does it because he can; so the thought, on both sides, will be what else can he do.

I think you must have hit it on the nail, there. Men would not view him as any sort of threat. Just a misfit.

I may have missed something. Is he being rude to all the customers who regularly buy yellow label stuff? Or just Nikki? Or just women?

I was in Tesco once, and I saw the yellow label man being followed round by quite a crowd of people. Objectively, it was quite funny. One man had a whole trolley full of yellow sticker sandwiches. What he was going to do with them all, I have no idea. I had the impression that he was just trying to provoke sandwich envy and he'd put them all back later.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Maybe freeze them and eat them till they ran out. :)

Yes, silver car is saying bluntly what we're. All skirting around. And it stays with one forever.

And I'm a huge fan of yellow stickered stuff. I'd buy doggy poo if you put a yellow sticker on it.

This I can arrange, in extra value packs, with a really massive reduction, waitrose style.

    How's doglet?

Doglet is fine, thanks. Did I mention she was kidnapped last week? She was waiting for me outside a shop, and a terribly nice girl decided Doglet must be a stray, took her home, fed her, and only then telephoned the number on the collar. Then, rather shame-facedly brought her back to the shop. Doglet was perfectly happy, and she got fed.

I agree it's not confined to a particular class. There aren't any in my family, with the possible exception of one of my uncles, who is dead now and lived on the other side of the world when he was alive, anyway. Beyond that, I suspect that men like that don't choose to get jobs teaching in the kind of schools where I've taught, or to belong to the sort of churches I have belonged to. (For example, the first school I worked in was a girls' school with only two male teachers when I joined it, although when I left 6 years later they'd acquired several more. Not the sort of job to appeal to someone who doesn't really believe that women are the equals of men!) Since I draw most of my friends and acquaintances either from work or from church, that keeps me rather sheltered, I suspect.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Women are not the equals of men. Women are far superior.
