    Do people change their curtains??
I've never done it. Once they're up they're staying up :)

If I'd lived in the same house, for, say, 30 years ... I might have bought a new set during that time .... but that'd be a one-off replacement, not changing :)

I'm very Impressed that you have the energy to change your curtains. That is certainly not something that I've ever done. You and fir seem to have boundless energy, unless there's an army of helpers we never get to hear about.

    Hahahahaha.

Fir has lots of energy. He's amazing. I just woke up for a nap.

Makes sense to me to change them, reduce heating need in winter, reduce lighting need in summer. Lift spirits in both.

Won't do it in every room in the house mind you, but is sensible too some places.

Just had a tense (understatement) 10 minutes.

Turned on an ancient laptop that hasn't been on for almost a year... obviously the battery was completely dead, so I had to enter the date and time etc.

What if I can't remember my password? What if having no battery means it hasn't maintained the memory (I know, I've never claimed to be a computer expert). What if...?

After a couple of goes, managed to get it to reboot - and it resumed the session it had been left at.

Guess what was on the screen - the NPT 9 :rotfl: (I'd just posted that my mortgage had appeared on my onlne banking ).

    Phew.

I don't understand. Was there something important on that laptop? What about backups?

GDb the way other people back up would horrify you.

My life would probably get me a very stern GDb ticking off ATM. :)

I think I might stay in bed from now on today. I don't think I want whitebait and I'm very tired. I've been on the go, until nap earlier, and I'm sleepy, fir is here to feed every one else and lock them away so I'm letting go, feels good. :)

I'm not brilliant about backups, but Nikki's laptop had not been used for a year! so what can be so important that it is not needed for a year, yet is now needed?

The important stuff is indeed backed up on an external drive. But there is some software that I'm not sure will work from the drive - and I'm sure the version I have is about a century out of date now.

The laptop has my data and analysis software on it, and today I decided to face starting the reanalysis I've been putting off (I took another holiday in the office today).

I have a truly ancient PC that I do my accounts on. Anyway, I'm pleased your software is working still. One less worry for you.

I dread to think how old that laptop is - it certainly looks pretty retro compared to my work one!

It might have solved a few of my problems if it hadn't worked ;) Was definitely a powerful reminder that I do actually want to get this done though. I have a teeny hint of a headache now.

Looking forward to not having to cross my fingers when I'm trying to switch it on again in 12 months time!
