  • She is sleeping a lot but only had a bit of mild nausea for a week, and not throwing up. The outlaws don't know yet, they just happened to be here...

Yah they were also scanned at 5, 7, 9 and 10 weeks! To be blunt, there was a lot of bleeding early on, so we kept going to hospital. They are the most scanned foetuses ever I think.

Nope, all natural. We only had an initial consultation re: fertility stuff then she got pregnant the first time.

I think her parents will come over here for the first 2 months then she'll fly back to Aus with them for another 2 months or so - at least that's what she wants to do now. She will also have a couple of friends nearby on mat leave at the same time which will help. God knows how we will cope, I can hardly dress myself.

It's a weird sort of chemical tiredness when you are pregnant - not like when you've had loads of exercise or something, but a sort of hormonal cosh over the head!

Are they fraternal twins or identical?

Glad she'll have lots of help - you both will, I mean.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

Fraternal which is a good thing apparently (and also because only 25% instead of 50% chance that they are both girls leaving me horribly outnumbered).
  • Hey - I am horribly outnumbered in precisely that ratio.......

I'm even more outnumbered...even the cat is male!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Managed to pray for Spirit at the wrong time on the right day again today. DD told me, though, that she had lit a candle and prayed for "lots of things, including for your friend to get better, Mum".
Trying to decide whether its worth washing them when I'll have to take them down in a couple of weeks and wash them to put away anyway, or live with it for a fortnight ish.

Why will you be taking them down and putting them away in a fortnight?
... we had our 12 week scan today. Everything is fine, lowest possible statistical risk of downs and it all looks good and this is obviously all down to the NP good vibes. Just stuffed myself with pie and chips to celebrate.

Woohoo! Huge congratulations to both of you. :j:j:j

Oh Chewie, how terrifying. Miscarriage is vile - hammers your body, your hormones and your emotions all in one. And those first 12 weeks of the next pregnancy are very very scary even if you don't bleed, so I can only imagine how awful they must be if you do.

Like other, NP, though, I'm another one who's had a safe pregnancy and a healthy baby after having lost the previous baby (at 9 weeks), so hoping and praying all will go well from here on for you (all four of you).
God knows how we will cope, I can hardly dress myself.

Try not to worry too much about that. I mean, worry enough to put the effort into organising some help, but then leave it to worry about itself. Somehow, you will manage, because you will have to. Later, you will look back at your pre-baby self and find it faintly amusing that you used to think you couldn't function without adequate sleep, or the freedom to go out on the spur of the moment, etc etc. You will look forward to a future when these temporary disadvantages are over, but in the meantime you will just get on with it and it will become the new normal of your life that you take for granted. :)

On a more mundane subject, I need to get a new combined scanner/printer. Do any of the NP have suggestions of what to get or warnings of what to avoid, please?

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Congratulations! Don't be put off by having female children. I have mentioned before it's a recognised side-effect of handsomeness in dads.;)

You'll need to act as minder for Mrs C when the munchkins show up as everybody'll want a piece of her and they won't care about her energy and need for rest, so you'll have to be her champion and win her some peace from the well-wishers. Actually if most of them are in Aus, that might be a bit easier.

Don't worry about dressing yourself properly. DW is convinced I just cover myself with sticky glue and jump through my wardrobe.

Had all three main brands. Canon are good. Got myself a wireless double-sided colour three-in-one job from nearby Tesco that works with my 2002 mac, for about £40 a few months back. But I'm a light user.

As far as I'm concerned they all seem equally reliable so the best choice for most people would be the printer with the cheapest refill options.

Wish I knew what that is. Must be a thread somewhere on this forum?

  • I've just arranged a meeting with my best mate, who I've not seen since Kermie was born. Travelling to see her isn't that far, but more hassle with a baby in tow - and her son was born the day after Kermie, so she had a good excuse in reverse!

She has a daughter, as well, who was 5 in May. And the birth of her son followed 9 miscarriages and 1 child in total, poor girl.

Kermie is doing his best impression of a little sod - teething now for over a week, with no teeth to show for it. He isn't half making a drama out of the whole thing. He had a massive yell-a-thon between 8pm and 10pm, where he just screamed, chewed his fist and his teething rings, and grumped in general. Then he went to sleep, but is on his third wake-up of the night so far.....

    My rings, all mine.....

    Still all mine:

Mess with my rings at your peril. Gollum... gollum....

    He's lovely really.

OH just texted to say he'll be home about 2am, and will be very quiet.
