I bought a new dress last week.

Cannot decide whether to wear that or the dress I normally wear to see new consultants to hospital this week.

Important things I have to decide you know.

DW complained that my socks don't match. I try to buy all mine the same colour, but they gradually change colour when washed. Life is too short to worry about matching up different shades of shabby socks, so I feel hard done by. Apparently one was inside out, as well.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I am trying to catch up with In The Club. The trouble is that I enjoy the drama, but hate the birth scenes and talk about stitches. Maybe, it's not for me.

Whilst out for our walk DW and I met a veteran of D Day. Age 90, he is as fit as anything and very compus mentis. His young polish girlfriend was swimming in the ladies pool, and he was enjoying the sunshine.

I looked at waitrose this week ( as I was near there) for some socks. I quite like their wool and silk mix socks. But not as much as the socks I buy in a shop in Salisbury and a nother town, which I think I can also buy on line, I might look later.

I would have bought some, but they all had blue in them. Blue is such a tasteful colour. Why cannot they have something tasteless for the brash people like me?

Our buddy is appearing in Strictly Come Dancing. BBC One at 8pm.

If you lot could oblige, watch it and vote for the big bubbly brummy so she stays in long enough, we might get some tickets to go and watch her do dancing.

Who does the voting? Do they publish figures anywhere? I've always wondered how many people vote.

    Ok. :)

I was forced to bed mid afternoon, but I'm getting things ready for seven thirty for a minute for spirit. We've got three sets of sparkly lights upstairs and I'm going to light a candle I keep for best because I think spirit would say 'burn it'

In that cocktail queen's style I'm drinking lychee juice with a maraschino cherry in it ( fir has lychee liquor in his too). And we're having salmon for supper, cos she likes fish. :)

I've got the solar lights charged up, the salt lamp ready to go - and two nifty citronella candles I bought earlier that can be lit :)

I'm having a flatbread from the Coop ... because I was in there looking for citronella and spotted it reduced from £2.50 to 65p ... and I'd have never bought it at £2.50. :) I'm sure Spirit would have done the same......

So - I've been conkering... and made a bit of a loon of myself. I think the people walking their dogs in the castle grounds were wondering if the old lady with the loose/odd trousers in the trees - and wielding the fat stick - was dangerous or not - and if they should get out (after letting their big dogs out first), or stay in the car and call the castle custodians.

    :)

Shed now has a small pot of conkers - and I've half a carrier bag still in their sticky cases that I'll get round to opening tomorrow, after I've read up to see if I should let them rot in the garden first.

I've also found a magnificent source for giant pinecones.... but it's definitely a "6am dash out when nobody's around" pasttime as it's in the middle of an exceedingly busy roundabout on the commuter route.

A few people have mentioned it so I will confirm that the portfolio is done! Handed in. I was fairly happy with it in the end :) Dissertation not so much but the portfolio I think was good. It's pass or fail and I'm sure it's good enough to pass.

So hopefully by January I'll be Masomnia BA MSc Assoc CIPD. Not bad going. I'm planning on doing a diploma in piano performance too; but that's a sort of five year thing, just for the letters y'know.

    Well done :T

What's the particular route you've taken to get Assoc. CIPD? The qualification I'm doing also leads to it, but doesn't have a dissertation (I don't think!).

Love the idea of a piano performance diploma - how varied :D

I've not seen him - he used to have a wonderful, sharp, slightly camp* sense of humour. Does he still?

    * OK, very camp.

    Yes.

    Say no more.

Actually, I watched it for a few minutes as I promised a friend I would. Never again - wanted to throw things at him and the TV! I thought he came across as an arrogant person with an over-inflated idea of his own importance
Bloody jam has gone mouldy again.

Cannot think what the hell I am doing wrong. making jam my whole life yet cannot seem to sterilise a jar or close a jar properly in this house. :( I left the jars till cold, but maybe the sensation n my hands isn't good enough to detect subtle warmth. Grrrrr.

I read recently a suggestion that you should either put the lids on tight when it is all very hot, or at the latest you should tighten them while the jam is still hot.

I've got some accessories like these, which help to tighten the lid while it's too hot to handle otherwise.

Jam is usually piping hot or stone cold. I usually do piping hot, so thought I'd do stone cold this time to see if that was better. Obviously not.

I'll go back to piping hot and ask my mummy some time I can face discussing failure and having a dressing down for ineptitude.
