Wow, spirit, that's a shock to read this morning. Please listen to your body when you feel unwell or you will be leaving us far too early! Well done to dd, thank goodness she was there.
I hope you're seeing some improvement this morning. Please let is know how you are feeling and feel free to moanSorry if breakfast is porridge, I'm not a fan. There always seems to be yoghurt around on hospital wards, I'd choose that.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I love porridge but not sure I'd want it in hospital.
Poor darling spirit might be having problems swallowing and stuff, so might not have much choice with food ATM.0 -

Let's raise a (slice of hospital) toast to Spirit that she's on the mend and in her own home again soon. Morning Spirit.

My Mum's been calling him "Daniel" all day in a slightly pointed fashion, and my Dad calls him "BABY!"
My niece appears to be called "(The) Little One" more often than her name, which always seems a little generic to me.0 -
Rp calls kiwi 'the boy'.
Kiwi went through a phase of wanting to be called Ollie, not a name I would ever choose for a dog. He also quite likes cardinal Wolsey as a name. Shrug.0 -
.... it has to go onto the list for "a little man", who I've still not managed to source.

Local newsagent windows? supermarket also often have similar boards?
I do wish people'd stop using the word "Local" on these boards
There's one shop just over a mile away that's got some adverts - although they tend to be either room for rent, or boat for sale.
The one supermarket that seemed to have some adverts seems to have stopped doing it since they rejigged their layout.
I bought the local paper: No adverts
I searched online and phoned one: He's not phoned back (over a week ago)
I asked the builder doing the work next door: He knows nobody "reliable", he laughed at that word.
Prices seem to be about £20-25/hour, which is an absolute fortune too! You'd think they'd be queueing up to offer their services at that rate... if I could do anything I know I'd be setting up. Unfortunately, I've no skills, no experience, no tools - and a mental confusion that'd mean everything I attempted (with skills/tools) would have to be done twice as I'd have to do it the first time to work out my errors.
Started to put my 2nd shelves together earlier... then realised I'd been lucky the first time and accidentally got it the right way round .... they're now half built as, having made the mistake and corrected it, I knew I had to walk away and 'rest my brain' so I didn't c0ck up the next stage.
That was why I thought tackling the curtains might be a good idea.0 -
A mile is more than local for a handy man. Five miles is local for one. I mean, unless you want to keep him in the garden shed!
Our local village shop is further a way and its close enough to walk, I'm guessing most handy men will have a vehicle..
Word of mouth. Have you asked nice neighbours? Estate agents you bought from? ( estate agents often know one lettings agents always do) other place to ask might be somewhere you ostensibly go to browse like a bric a brack sale/ book sale at local () churches. ' I've moved to this area recently, do you know of a local handy man, I'm not having any luck finding one' church communities often love to be helpful.

I would think that would be the rate if you only have 1 or 2 hours work, because they need to factor in travelling time etc. If you can keep them busy all day, it should be cheaper.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
