Thank you for expressing how I feel so succinctly.

Indeed. What I don't understand is why the parents didn't tell the hospital that that was what they were doing. I mean, suppose they had said to the hospital, "We have arranged for him to be treated at X Hospital in Spain, where they can do Y treatment. Please help us make sure we know how to maintain his food pump etc while we are travelling." Surely the hospital would have had to let them go, even if they felt (and said) that it was against their advice. Wouldn't they?

I am very conscious its not a very fair discussion here on np thread.

I don't really know. People, including children are allowed and arranged out of uk for medical treatment. There may be reasons we are not party to that this was not considered in this case. But those reasons may also not be valid, but be a case of opinion.

Shrug. Truth is we'd never know if it were the case because very few people in that situation will say it. E.g. I admit, with embarrassment, to my other consultants, that neuro and I have a personality clash and its coloured my decisions. I think its important to be honest about this. However, I doubt neuro would be (in fact, in my notes I can see what was said to another consultant outwith letter to me and it is tosh). Who is a consultant / hospital likely to believe? Slightly nutty patients / parents or trusted colleague/ peer?

This is pretty crap. Procrastinating then doing stuff and panicking.

Much of my life is like that. Might you have burnout too???

21:43 - Beep - found out what is was on Sunday, the kids have an electronic stopwatch which they have somehow managed to set the time wrong and also set the hourly beep function, no instructions so I haven't yet figured out how to turn off the beeps.

Phew. So glad to get an answer to the puzzle.

    Hope that works out well.

We've finally got DS into a school he can walk to, and that understands him (we think). He also has to do retake courses but we hope a re-mark may solve one of them.

Good news about the walking option. Best of luck for the remark.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Yeah, I didn't thank it, I just hit the spam button.

And.. you can't feed children out of poverty ...

Well, feeding children at school can make them a lot more likely to go to school, especially in a place like Malawi, while both nutrition and education are crucial for getting children out of poverty.

The problem with the post, as Gen has pointed out, is that a £1 donation on a £1000 table is pathetic, and even if it wasn't, this isn't an appropriate place to indulge in that kind of advertising.

Quite. Here's a direct link in case anyone wants to spend £1 without buying a £1000 table:

Lived without a fridge before and would again, I think a freezer is more cost effective.

    But roof beats both!
