Smoke alarms go beep when the batteries get low because batteries work best when warm... so once they get low and it gets cold they're most likely to dip below the point at which they "chirp".... which is why smoke detectors will usually wake you up in the middle of the night, as it's colder.0

Trying process of elimination by changing the smoke detector battery - of course that assumes the replacement from a packet that doesn't seem to have a date on it, but that we have had for a while, is any good....I think....0

I've blatted one of these round Silverstone so have no doubt that it will handle just fine on the Road of Bones..Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? If I'd known you were going there I'd have pointed you at some things. e.g. did you know there's a big cave on W/Bay that's good for a photo opportunity .... and then there are the smuggling tales/etc.
You can walk between W/Bay and LG .... IF/when .... the tide is really going out far - and you've not got kids with you and you don't mind getting your toes wet paddling round the last rocks from Porth to LG....
If you ever fancy "slumming it".... I'd thoroughly recommend the pub grub at the Mermaid .... HUGE menu, sit in or out .... very reasonable prices.0 -
Clearly our Fiat is 10 years too new
I've no idea how he did it, but OH managed to get the four of us (two encased in car seats) 3 body boards, wetsuits, boots, goggles etc, moses basket, nursing pillow, Kermie chair, pop up tent, box of food and bottles and breast pumps etc and all our clothes and toiletries for a week (including beach towels) in a Fiat Brava. It wasn't that roomy, and was frankly squashed, but we did get there with all our kit....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

If you can be bothered to read through you will hear our tale of woe (not fully resolved) with our much larger 5 year old Fiat. We were also cramped with only 2 body boards although I do insist on being able to see out the rear windows which doesn't help for space...and the DDs do insist on packing for themselves which is an even bigger problem, some explaining of the facts of life will need to happen prior to our flights methinks.I think....0 -

We had dinner at Lusty Glaze twice, otherwise we self-catered. I like the idea of that walk - but not quite at the moment, we'll wait a while for Kermie, I think!
I thought we were going to Widemouth, rather than Watergate, it was my fault. We did explore the caves at Watergate, though. It's a fantastic beach, and huge!If you can be bothered to read through you will hear our tale of woe (not fully resolved) with our much larger 5 year old Fiat. Sorry Michael - I've not yet had a chance to read through. Hope it does get sorted ASAP.
We don't let Isaac take unlimited crap - a bag of lego, a few books and some pens was his lot....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
