On the family front - two blokes with the same name, born within 2 miles of each other - but 5 years different in age - so been trawling through court reports ... and having a bit of a street-feral family pays dividends. One of the men with the same name was caught breaking/entering/nicking with his cousin, so that helps me sort out the family groups to get closer to "who is who".

Having access to 1901 and 1911 censuses would make this easier/faster, but you have to pay for that.... and that's right at the back of the list.

The British Heart Foundation has a specialist furniture store in (what I think is) Pastures's neck of the wood, though whether or not it is any good I don't know.

20+ miles away.... I'm more easterly, by the famous trees and the border.....

I went in there once, about 18 months ago. It was full of "old lady design sofas" at £250-400.

    I want a new one, it's "for life". I deserve a new one .... :)

Yes, sounds perfect to me. I'd definitely be using that excuse!

Well our heating definitely still works. Carpets are pretty dry now ( which is impressive as we forgot to take the cover off the bit that collects water), big dog has been panting, the cats and dog dog are content and I took my slippers off this evening. :).

So, it will go off ( unless carpets aren't dry won't be going back on, will probably turn on to show off when people come to lunch :) ) till much later in the year, but oh how exciting it is. :)

I've got to turn mine on for the first time.... soon, before it gets cold/darker. I'll wait until it's dry/sunny/light and there are people about .... there's a boiler with dials, each rad has a control (except one that's broken off and on the window sill) ... and there's a thermometer in the hall. So all very intimidating. I've got the destruction booklet to read.

    Wot, Sevenoaks?:o

I put the shop in because I thought that was the sort of place lir had been to due to the interestingly juxtaposed cushions. I didn't realise it was a badly dressed Next store. I think I deserve yet another one of these:o

Oh god ... somebody on Ancestry's got a whole tree of him... him down (not up) ... and a photo - he's got my mum's very distinctive brow! A family "look" .... which he can't have got from his father.... if I were a member there I'd now be making a fool of myself ...

Are you related to Freda Kahlo?

    Exciting re the tree though...

Well they were in the flat, but not in the bath. It was the image in my mind of them in the bath that meant I had to stifle a laugh all evening.

Thanks for the info BTW: I need to work out a way of feeding back without revealing that I constantly chatter to people online.

:). Even though I like the hot tub thing now I cannot bring my self to a spa bath. The London flat had one and it almost vomited the first time I cleaned it properly, all black stuff came out of the reservoir when I bleached it. The idea that I was bubbling in other people's un cleaned filth from the reservoir was all a bit yucky, In an ensuite where its just your own and your partners yucky filth maybe less bad, But they aren't very pretty :o
