That sounds like a lovely day out. It also taked the hassle out of shopping if you can buy things like clothes when wandering about rather than on a mission.

We went to West Wittering of Friday evening. 45 minutes each way. Got there about 7pm, wallk on the beach, threw tennis ball for dog, sat on beach chair behind a groin to keep out of the wind whilst drinking coffee from a flask and watched the sun going down.

    Simple pleasures.

I need to buy some new long sleeved tops. I hate clothes shopping so decision is..go to Orvis and East from home this weekend, or try to buy in F . We go on Tuesday.

Are you typing on LIR's macputer?

How careful do yOu have to be? Food like bhel puri contains potatoes.

Have to be v careful, it's a proper allergy rather than an intolerance. There's a long list of things that I can't have because they have potato starch in, but bizarrely, distilled into vodka, no problem. I have no idea how it works, must fundamentally change whatever causes the allergy.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I went down to the groyne in Brighton today. Tablet wants to change word to ground rather than groin. I'm a bit disappointed that it hasn't gone for a word that st least sounds the same.

Have just watched New Dr Who. Not sure I like him yet. He mumbles a lot and is very soft spoken, so couldn't make out huge chunks of dialogue. Hopefully that will change over the series. It will get very old v quickly otherwise.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    I had chips tonight.

This is rare enough for a mention.

It is a neighbours birthday and we were invited. I'd helped in the most minor way possible to help and thus was embarrassed to be thanked among people who genuinely did help pull a huge thing together. Its going now, and as our closest neighbours we can hear the band, and its quite nice to hear a terrible band and feel find and friendly about it.

We chatted to a few other neighbours and then they announced they had a fish and chip van for supper. They also had huge rounds of cheese and loads of puds. We didn't look at the puds, but it had some chips,, DH had fish and chips and helped with the cheese mountain. :)

vodka is produced by fermentation of starchy compounds which are broken down into alcohol (+ other stuff like carbon dioxide). then the alcohol is collected by distillation before being watered down at the other end (all spirits are made in this way and most of the difference in how they taste is due to what happens after distillation - whisky starts out clear and is only the colour it is because it sits in a barrel for years). whatever causes the allergy is either being broken down or isn't making it through to the distillate.

That'll be what it's about. i don't think a distilled spirit from a foodstuff would contain much antigenic material in it. As Chewy says, whisky gets its colours from sitting in sherry casks for umpteen years. I used to dirve past a bonded warehouse in Glasgow - looked like a fortress, just full of whisky barrels getting aged.

I watched it with low expectations as it was (a) a regenerations episode (which I find are rubbish like the confused character in"It's a Woinderful Life" repeating the same confused activity again and again).
and (b) a victorian paternoster episode which shows every sign of building up a bunch of characters for a spin-off like Torchwood,
I liked the second half of the show immensely though. Very old school Doctor Who stuff. ;)

I'm repainting the back wall. The colour I picked was a brilliant shade of WRONG. It was a whim. I must not have paint whims. All paint choices must be pondered for weeks.

A few months ago we went out and bought paint for the kitchen and hallway, both were decided in a 10 minute discussion in Homebase...the hallway was painted and the colour looked nice but we hadn't got around to the kitchen. Fast forward to last week and I decided to use some of the kitchen paint in the toilet.

It looks nice in the toilet but would have been completely unsuitable for the kitchen, so now the bathroom is going to be done the same colour as the toilet and I have to think of another colour for the kitchen.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I don't really have any family holiday stories. We did go away, but not very often. Last family holiday was in 1997. I've been away a couple of times in the UK with my mum in recent years.

Next family holiday is... 2014
We'll be staying in my brother's one-bed flat (he is abroad for a couple of years). I expect there will be tales of arguments aplenty :o

We always went away, even if it was to my paternal nan's in Sussex for a couple of weeks when money was tight.

They were never expensive holidays, usually camping (apart from the early days when I remember hotels in Bournemouth and Ireland), mum would scour the camping and caravanning books to discover the cheap sites and that would be where we would go that year. One she found was less than a £1 a night (cheap even back then) and we loved it so much we went back again and again....20 years again all told as we continued to go there even when I had grown up and had my own family.

Sadly it is no longer £1 a night and although I would love to go back there, the price is unfortunately out of my budget.
