The final straw on our Fiat was that the clutch actuator connection rod had failed. It was made of plastic, which presumably saved Fiat a few pence compared to a steel one. To replace that would have required the engine and gearbox to be taken out of the car, and the gearbox stripped down.
A previous failure had been an important element of the gearbox, the kingwheel IIRC, which had been glued together, rather than welded. All the power of the car was being transmitted through a bit that was glued together,No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Bit of a big bugg4h.... 55" diameter.
It's now in the garden - and it was suggested I paint it immediately to tidy it up ... and I was given some fence paint stuff, so I did that straight away too and it does look less shabby. That's regular brown stuff for now... next year.... colour.
I found fence paint, big tubs of Ronseal for £3 in Asda today if anyone cares!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

We went to the seaside today! Took the train down to Brighton. Used the FCC route as it's direct and our new two person railcard... cost a massive £3.80 more for the train fare there and back for two people than it would just to park in their ridiculously expensive parking garage... without any fuel or running costs. Bargain!
It was a lovely day and waved to everyone on the way down. As is customary, had a good look around the North Lanes, DH lusted over guitars in Guitars and Keyboards and bought some clothes. Enjoyed watching the mods riding around on the scooters... good fun, a bit nippy but very enjoyable. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

DH had some chips. Unfortunately I'm allergic to potatoes. I was more fed up at not being able to try the Indian street food cart because I'd already had lunch. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? That sounds like a lovely day out. It also taked the hassle out of shopping if you can buy things like clothes when wandering about rather than on a mission.
We went to West Wittering of Friday evening. 45 minutes each way. Got there about 7pm, wallk on the beach, threw tennis ball for dog, sat on beach chair behind a groin to keep out of the wind whilst drinking coffee from a flask and watched the sun going down.
Simple pleasures.
I need to buy some new long sleeved tops. I hate clothes shopping so decision is..go to Orvis and East from home this weekend, or try to buy in F . We go on Tuesday.0 -

Well, to be honest, there's not much shopping in that whole county. Certainly F isn't the centre of style ... except there will be something probably, somewhere, as cruise ships stop there. ... but that's being a tad optimistic.
There's a tiny M&S outlet some miles away (rarely worth stopping even if you're passing and bored).
I think "ladies who lunch" probably shop in other counties.... or the capital city of the county (T).... in fact, T is your only chance.0
