Quite often one of the letters in pn turns in to an 'o' I don't know what that is about.

Truly pathological hoarding is different, though. It's keeping stuff despite being quite sure that you will never have any use for it, just because the thought of letting it go is irrationally too distressing or terrifying.
I'm still carting about random odds/sods from my parents and their house. Just small stuff, some kept deliberately and some slipped into a box at the last minute on the last day as I was exiting.... I look at it and think "I can't use this stuff, why have I got it?" Some of it's just mad... e.g. some videos they probably never watched, or watched once, of no significance.... but they were "theirs".... and I've no video player.

Without trying to make this into a hoard-off (I'm definitely not saying my tendancies are anything pathological as some here experience, more bad habits that need to be kept in check), the friend who I lent my carpet cleaner to a couple of weeks back (it's currently out for loan again - incidentally) was moving countries. They are coming back next year, so have stashed a fair amount of stuff with friends, but were looking to get rid of a lot of stuff too. I was offered a brand new (still boxed) microwave, two folding chairs, two bar stools, two plug in radiators, a small folding table, some cutlery and a lamp.

I managed to decline the cutlery (I already have 2 sets here), but ended up with everything else. I inherited a microwave and two plug in radiators with the house. I don't really need any of the rest of the stuff. Nor is any of it what I would choose to buy. Do I really need a 'back up' microwave? I am hoping I can give back most if not all of the furniture when friend comes back here. Then at least I was just storing it rather than hoarding it!

I've given up trying to email.

A simple lunch and stickybeak around the wreck? 18th at the Wreckstoration?

Pn? Lydia ( or too near beginning of term? ( though of course you both know the place) NDG? I'll try email details of how far if date is free for you so you can make a reasonable decision before committing. :)

    Consoled!

Wish I had read this before demolishing the last two jaffa cakes.

    That would be lovely.

When I cleared LNE's house I decided I did not need a backup microwave. My parents' microwave was on its last legs so I gave LNE's to them. I did decide, however, that a backup vacuum cleaner would be useful. His is not great, but it's small and light, so can be put up in the loft quite easily, and I've used it several times when mine was going through one of its temperamental phases. The two dead "for spares" Dysons of the same type as mine that came from freecycle and are currently in my garage are a lot harder to rationalise. I really ought to take them to the tip. Perhaps I will once term starts and I can do it without DD noticing. She doesn't know they're there, and will never miss them if I chuck them, but wouldn't like to see them being taken out and disappearing.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I have a dead Dyson too. It came free with the house. I've not chucked it as I figure I can get a few £ for it on Ebay. Not quite figured out how that will happen without listing it though...

'I'll sell it on ebay' is up there with 'it'll probably come in handy one day' for me :o

My dead Dyson is in the dining room and the spare microwave is in the lean-to/ conserrvatory.

My problem here is its not my ( just my, some of it is mine) stuff, and I am not prepared to make decisions about other people's stuff, and its hard to get other people to focus on things when they don't want to.

    I hate the extra stuff.

My DD finds it hard to get rid of things, probably for reasons Lydia has given. In recent months though she has sorted some stuff out and I have taken things to the charity shop or clothes bank. Still lots to do.

I rescued a few bits..sort of feeling they should go on ebay..but I am not an ebayer. A new with tags sueprdry top, a Cacherel Silk top I bought her from a Paris flea market when she was 18, and a silk Nikki Hill dress in turquoise with a rainbow vent at the back..its about a size 6-8. They are in a plastic container in the utility..making me feel guilty. Not at all clear why I perceived these as having more value than Monsoon dresses, next clothes and barely worn hoodies, but I have vested some imaginary value in them.

NPs in need of a new vacuum cleaner... I heard on the way home today that the EU is changing the law on vacs. If you don't get your new vacuum cleaner soon, the higher powered models are to be withdrawn from the European market. That impacts on five of the seven Which? Best Buy models. Here's some more info...

If you want one over 1600w, tough. My Miele is 1600w and is just fine, but then I don't have pets.

I'm doing a rejuvenating and intensive moisturising face mask, before I subject it to a week's worth of sea, sand and sun. Obviously, both OH and Isaac are dead keen to have a go and put some on Kermie, to see what happens when you "rejuvenate" someone who is only a few weeks old.....

Tell them to leave him alone. Poor little mite.

Your skin is lovely and not in need of any rejuvenating at all.

    Mine on the other hand...
