    I've been Money Tipped!
    We have white bath mats.

It makes sure you don't get slovenly about washing them.

    I. The new bathroom they are sort of rag ones, sounds horrid, but they are really soft when you get out of the shower.

My bath mat's a cheapo one, in bright/light aqua. It's quite a shagpile one, with "loops".

To be honest, I rarely use it .... I don't like to get it wet, so risk death/disaster trying to dry the bottom of my feet while still standing in the bath ..... although that's very precarious as I get wobbly and there's nothing to hold onto.

When I say I don't use it - I lay it out on the floor, have a bath, wipe my feet, step down onto the mat .... then next time I'm up there I'll pick it up off the floor and drape it back over the side of the bath .... it's left on the floor for awhile, to give the sides of the bath time to dry.

Oh, and I also bought the chocolate cookies, so doubly at fault. Also I'm at fault because it looks like it might rain, so the bath mat may not get dry.

No buying choc chip cookies is a sign of affection in baked form. Bathmat, hmm, recipe for disater:p

    .

Nah, I'm too well-behaved not to wash them - only once a week, but then again there is only me.

@ Single Sue Well done on the results, that's brilliant news, especially considering the negative outlook to start with.:T

Your story is now in my "will haunt me" list too :( The Mummy Bear memories got me the most.

Aww, PN, I didn't mean to haunt you! :o It does seem silly that all these years later I still feel sad about what happened. Plus it would have been lovely to still have them to give to my DDs when they were littlies, at least I'd have known they were loved and trashed. Suspect my friend's little sister didn't care for them at all and just trashed them. :( I was the child who named all her china ornaments, let alone my dollies and cuddlies. Being an only child is hell as a child (apart from anything else you are always outnumbered by the GrownUps! ). But after reading some of the stuff on the Wills and Probate threads I feel lucky now! ;) :rotfl:

Despite all the potential negative bits, it really is a beautiful part of the world and I would not wish to live anywhere else.

Yes, perhaps a NP meet would be good. As long as it doesn't include large expanses of water or mountains! At least not without snow!

When we had chance to buy new home I did wonder about moving here... I spent a lot of time down here out of season when I first became ill, OH visited at weekends. I still drove then, so was able to go shopping and even did some (very short) beach walks. I always found the local shop keepers very friendly and helpful, despite what some say about "The Welsh" hate "The English". My Mum was Welsh, but refused to teach me Welsh as she liked to rabbit on with her mates (there were a couple lived close enough to visit when I was small) in Welsh about the Gossip and didn't want me to understand. At least that's how it came across to me. Secret private language! ;):(

But when push came to shove we wanted to be closer to DD2 and the Twins, plus it's easier to get to London to visit DD1 and GS3 from Liverpool than from here (certainly by train, not that we use that *yet*, but even by car). Plus property prices in Abersoch are silly. Though I like Pwllheli, and they're somewhat better there. But still too far from family.

It would be fantastic if we could do a NP meetup! :) You are welcome to visit caravan if you can face the journey (and don't mind a cluttery mess ). Or we could meet somewhere half-way-ish if that suits better. OH hopes to get Duck out of the water over Bank Holiday weekend if he can organise the help with trailer and something to tow to field. So we won't threaten you with vast expanses of ocean. ;) He's thinking of driving his car (now repaired, long story) back to Liverpool maybe Tuesday, and then will get public transport back hopefully on Thursday. If weather forecast for Wed is carp he might put it off for a day (he needs to weed allotment). We'll see.

PM me if you want to try make arrangements. I'd love to have an NP meetup! :j

Just a word of warning - getting rid of old toys can be traumatic. We moved from Harrow to West Kirby just before my 13th birthday, right at the start of the summer hols. My Mum made me give all my dolls and cuddlies to the sister of my friend next door but one. I'm 65 now, _pale_ and to be honest I still miss them. My dollies - Joan, named after my cousin, a "Walkie Talky" doll. She only said Mama, and you had to lie her on her front then turn her over to get her to do that. Her walking wasn't much better! :rotfl: You had to kind of walk her along by tipping her from side to side. Then there was Dorothy, who must have been my Mum's doll, a deco haircut molded on a plaster head, hard arms and legs but a soft body. Archie Andrews, a mini ventriloquist puppet (used to be on the radio!). Betty, who had blue knitted clothes. Mummy Bear, given me by my Grandmother, Mum told her off for "spoiling" me. Peter Rabbit. Baby Teddy, practically bald and his nose chewed to a point. Thing was I spent the summer hols on my own as didn't know anybody in WK. Then when school started I was in the Third Form, and nobody except the teachers spoke to me for the whole of that first year there. I really could have done with my cuddlies then.

That's natural - your feelings I mean - and your mum's treatment of you was misguided and hurtful, although I hope unintentionally. My dad suffered like that - still regrets his mother's disposal of a much loved bear named "Happy Orange". My parents therefore didn't inflict anything of the kind on me and I am still contentedly in possession of "Own Teddy". (The youngest in a family of 4 often feels that there are very few toys that are his/her own, and feels strongly about them in consequence.)

But for DD it's pathological. It's not just much loved toys with imagined personalities. It's anything - the box the hamster cage came in, the dried out plastic pots of soil from an abandoned "science" experiment, every garment or shoe she's ever owned, and there were even a few tears when the vacuum cleaner came back from the repair shop with a new mains cable and the old mains cable had not been retained for her to cherish. It will destroy her life if it's not treated. Go to 4od and watch "The hoarder next door" to get an idea of how she'll turn out as an adult if she doesn't get help now.

I haven't the energy to remember when I last washed mine, so I've no idea how often they get done. I bung them in the laundry basket when they start to look grubby.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

We went to the co-op yesterday (Fortnums North) and bought loads of yellow stickered fruit salads for 40p each, down from £2. Also, two punnets of strawberries reduced likewise. All this fruit is just pleasantly ripe, some not quite ready to eat yet. Also, cress for 6p. They were closing early for the carnival.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

What a day. Sometimes despite your best efforts to be organised and get things done in a timely fashion (yes, I do this sometimes), it just doesn't go to plan. Or it does, but someone changes the plan at the last minute.
    Bah.

Oh dear.... next door's having a conservatory built.... obviously not concerned that permitted dev's removed and you need full PP .... and the guy's just started.

OK, I can accept he's parked his tipper/van "on moi land", blocking me in - no problem.
OK, I can accept he'll make some initial noise, knocking the current patio slabs out of place .... no problem.
But why oh why oh why oh why ..... does he find it necessary to have a piggin' radio on???

Wait until complete, then report! That way you can listen to the workman's radio again whilst it's being dismantled.
